This thread has 10 billion messages. It would be cool if there was a summary like with pics. I have read some of the messages but with so many, I don't know if people have kept up with the wounding or what results they had in the long term if they did.

Also, has this worked for people who were completely bald for years or on a completely bald part of their head?

Well, if you really care about it then you should just start from page 1. We don't have time to wait for people like you.

I don't have the time to read all of this, so could someone answer these questions for me?

- Does this work at all, any user experience from here or other forums?
- Where can I buy a dermaroller?
- Is there some kind of side effects?
- How does it work exactly?

We don't have time to answer all this.

Is Male Pattern baldness have the same background as acne?

Hyperkeratinization (decreased desquamation), sebaceous glands hyperplasia, increased sebum production (shiny head!)....??? Armando, what is your input on this? I also been reading everywhere that estrogen stimulates keratinization and cell division of the skin.

By derma rolling weekly, I promote keratinization (I shed skin like a mofo) , and my hair suddenly awaken from the darkness!

I just had an INSIGHT.... do you guys know how fraxel lasers or chemical peels work... they also induce WOUND HEALING...do they generate new skin from scratch , NO...but do they induce a lot of stuff , yes... definitely not to the degree of removing 7 mm of skin but they DO WORK by helping form new collagen etc. Now, I feel that wounding by derma roller might accomplish something similar by encouraging hair growth .... it is not planting a new hair follicle , it is encouraging the existing hair follicles who have been dormant to grow again.... something along on those lines!!!

http://www.wndu.com/news/specialreports ... 46491.html

Stumbled across this article, it talks of growing new skin on the scalp by inflation of salt water filled ballons under the skin.

I assume these must be new follicles if the original skin was scarred over?

Kinda freaky..

http://www.esprs.com/journal/281_10.pdf

Case 2 is very impressive, her density is high all over so im assuming the new skin also bears new follicles.

Turns out this is not new and some hair restoration surgons use it right now. Anyway I though it was cool becasue it appears you can grow brand spanking new terminal hairs.

Supposedly this only works in prepubescent kids, finding out why may be the clue to neogenesis?

LOL Karankaran, we all arrived (and agreed) to the same conclusion just a few pages back. There was almost a FWIII (forum war III) to agree on this :)

I've to say that I come back from work every day and first I open Gmail, then FB, and then this thread. It's amazing to read new stuff everyday here and see many people involved in this experiment. I really hope that this gives us all some sort of positive results and we can throw a party some day :D

I'll go a bit into detail here.

- I'm having minor success up until now. Like 20 new terminal hairs at hair line after 6 rolling sessions. The big question is: Is this only the vanguard, i.e., are more to come at a higher speed, or is this like the typical ratio, i.e., 20 new terminal hairs per 6 rolling sessions? It's too soon to answer that question, but there definitely is some effect. The only thing that matters is: Is that effect big enough for this to be a reasonable treatment? I dont wanna rape my head on a regular basis for weeks to come.

- Unfortunately, tumor formation risks are increased, but nobody knows how much exactly. Also, if you're not desinfecting your roller correctly, you might get infections into your scalp. Desinfection of the roller is pretty easy and cheap though, using rubbing alcohol (IPA) which you can get for 7$ at your local pharmacy.
- Multiple modes of action have been proposed: 1) fibrotic collagen destruction and subsequent remodelling of adjacent areas with "correct" tissue, 2) wounding to induce growth factors, stem cell delivery and cell profilation for repair and reactivation of damaged and dormant hair follicles. It may be both of these effects or only one of them.

Anything that can be ordered online in Europe which could help coping with dermarolling pain? Last time was awful :(

I'd love to see someone make modified dermarollers with .25-.50mm insulin pins, and a handle that you could lock a bottle of minoxidil into! :firing:

Thank you :) So what are you actually suppose to do with the dermaroller? How to use it exactly? and how many times?

Sorry for the stupid questions, but my time is short these days. Appreciate the help, and will take part in the experiment if there is any sign for it's effectness.

I bought "Dr. Numb" from owndoc.com

But, I have to tell you, the cream barely makes any difference. Not worth it, IMO.

I have now ordered a 1080 needle roller, in hopes of the 'bedding' effects will make the pain tolerable. (I have been using a 192 needle roller so far)

Thanks for the information about numbing cream. I won't be obsessed with buying it when I'm in pain. It also contains anti inflammatory agents and whow knows what they do exactly in the process or dermarolling therapy.

As for the 1080 roller, the bedding effect will just make you go less deep than with 192… But I think it's possibly great for additional shallow wounding after the long needles. I may order some 590 0.5mm roller.
