Hey All,

I've been massively stressed lately; to the point where I actually got the disease Shingles, requiring me to take Valtrex for the past 10 days...now I'm experiencing a shed and am slightly freaked. The stress has calmed down and I'm doing my best to relax and get myself well; to that end do any of you know if hair loss related to stress/a disease like shingles/or meds like valtrex is only temporary?
I'm pretty sure any hairloss due to Valtrex or Shingles will be very temporary and slight; but I don't know much about stress. Is this shed I'm seeing just a one-day thing or is it typical to see a very prolonged stress reaction? Also, assuming I get well and de-stress myself; is this damage reversible?
It might not even be a massive problem; I've just been noticing for the past week that I'm losing maybe 25 hairs in the shower instead of the usual 10; and today it was about 40 hairs in the shower so that is what made me think it's time to ask this question.
Thanks a lot in advance; I hope all you guys are doing well with your own situations.

I think it would be best for you to consult a doctor instead. After all, we are just "some guy" on the internet.

Lol that's true. My main question is whether stress induced hair loss is temporary...from what I can tell from reading it seems like it is.

Stress related hair loss is temporary, but it could also accelerate male pattern baldness. If you are predisposed to have male pattern baldness, you aren't doing yourself any favours.

About Shingles... My ex had shingles, and I was 100% prepared to have it as well, but I didn't. Apart from a few annoyingly itchy spots, shingles didn't affect her at all. As far as I know, if taken under control shingles is a minor illness that comes and goes.

I would be surprised if shingles had anything to do with your hairloss.

PS: See a doctor!!!
