My scalp was itching like crazy for 6 weeks

I have always had problems with an itchy scalp but I have always been able to get rid of it fast.

This time nothing was helping much...nizoral...tea tree shampoo/conditioner...copper peptides....I got s sinus infection so the dr prescribed me a z-pack and the scalp itch was gone in 2 days.

Do you lose hair when the itch kicks in?

Nope I never lose hair. Of course mind you my hair is so short I'm not sure I'd notice to be honest.

Ah interesting, I itch when my hair falls. I haven't itched in about 1.5 years, but I stopped taking finasteride for 5 days recently...itched again...carried on taking it, itch went.

You say in your regime you use 1.5mg of finasteride...is that each day?

Do you cut the 5mg pill into....3?

I've noticed the same when taking antibiotics along with a big reduction of hair loss.

There are a number of small microbes (staph/hepatitis/etc) that can cause inflammation on the scalp leading to hair loss that can be treated with antibiotics.

I've tried topical antibiotics but they seemed to have no effect, what could it be about an internal AB that could have such a positive effect on my hair?
