Know one was talking about "Propecia." We all know this is just same made up name to sell to the masses. We were talking about Finasteride and its original purpose. The initial research into Finasteride was not to assist in the treatment of male pattern baldness but to shrink the postate. Finasteride for treating male pattern baldness was just a side effect of the drug they did not know about (even though they may of suspected it might somehow help) When testing the drug in shrinking the postate they discovered that some men who had male pattern baldness grew more hair. So in fact it was accidental as such. They did not know this at the time because it was not the aim of the original study.
not but they had an idea that reducing dht would effect other things besides the prostate...namely hair.[/quote
i thought they synthesized a 5ar2 inhibitor (finasteride) because of the pseudohermaphrodites who neither lose their hair not get bph. so it was definitely not accidental.
