Ok, after rent, food and my current hair treatments I have $29.34 a month left over and I want to spend it on my hair as well...

Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about the supplement MSM? As far as I can tell it is a nutritional supplement containing sulfer, which claims to be beneficial for hair growth as well as skin and nails. It is related to the solvent and carrier DMSO, apparently, but doesnt make you smell like garlic.

http://arthritis-msm-supplement.discoun ... arch.htm#5

Im susupicious because it shows up in advertisements that, in the same breath, mention magnet therapy :hairy: . Also, advertisements use arguements like "it contains the fourth most common element in the body"... which would justify buying carbon or hydrogen pills if you accept the logic. Also the "studies" are very very weak and suspicious (how could six weeks of anything given to 20 peoople prove anything?)

Thanks for any thoughts.

6 weeks of sodomy for 20 straight dudes in a penal (haha that sounds like penis :jump: ) institution would prove that for some people life sucks. Any more questions? :punk:

Thats what other people have said on another quackey vitamin board (along with claims that it helps arthritis and inflammatory problem)...might be something to it (or not)... If it really causes an increase in any hair growth, that's got to be a good thing for hair health, dont you think? Anyway I wont hold my breath for better studies... Might be worth a try if it doesnt cost too much. MSM and a multivitamin.

. . .

Thanks for any thoughts.

I've been on 2000-3000 mg daily since about October, and I really don't notice any difference as far as my hair is concerned.

BUT - I had blown out my rotator cuff about 5 years ago, and it hurt to throw a ball.

2 months after MSM my shoulder was like new. Cooincidence, or MSM? I'm thinking it was the MSM.

How could MSM make "body" hair grow? I thought they only body hair that actually grows is the hair on your face and your pubes?

Yes, u r right, in all the other places hair grows on the body, the body hair fairy comes at night and waves her wand around your legs, armpits, and for the very lucky ones, ur nipples and asscheeks, And that is how we get body hair other than the face and genitals

What I meant is "body hair" only grows to a certain length unlike facial hair and scalp hair. So how could MSM speed up the growth of body hair?

Thanks for any thoughts.

For me MSM seems to work. It has made my hair and nails grow faster, but it HAS NOT generated any new hair that I can tell.

I have also seen relief from joint pain , and some generation of new gum tissue, to my surprise. Overall MSM has had positive results for me.

Cheapest way to go is to buy the bulk powder in a tub. Mix it with cold juice and stir like hell or drop a heaping tea spoon (4 grams) in a cup of hot tea or coffee and stir for 2 seconds.

The last option will leave a bitter taste but if you take sugar and cream you should not notice it. I drink my coffee black and it took a little getting used to.

Give it try, I am on my second tub and have had no side effects but only positive results in three short months.

I've been taking big daily doses of MSM for going on 2 years, and it has made what hair I have a little thicker and stronger, but doesn't stop loss.

Surely making hair grow faster would have the opposite affect on male pattern baldness? The faster it grows means you will be having more cycles per year which in turn means more loss per year.

The answer lays in slowing the hair growth! Doesnt it?

For me the basic premise is that the hair I have coaxed into growing by using other methodolgy will grow faster. I don't know if increasing the growth rate shortens the growth cycle. Perhaps someone will comment soon on this.

I also agree that it does not stop hairloss or generate new growth, at least that I have seen.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking of taking MSM as a vitamin but maybe I'll try it in powder form.
