When seen on Oct18,1976,after 21days of treatment,a confluent, brisk erythema and edema engulfed the scalp, nose, and temples. The fluorouracil therapy was discontinued, and the reaction subsided after three weeks of 0.5% triamcinolone therapy. The patient was not seen again until March10,1977,when he returned specifically to say thanks for the regrowth of hair he was experiencing

I have seen pictures of treatment with topical fluorouracil and it looks like skin of a patient who fell out of a moving car.

The skin gets completely "tore up" and triggers a massive repair phase.

So I would imagine this would case hair fall first then maybe possibly activate new stem cells and regrow hair to some degree. Probably not enough to be cosmetically significant.

Fluorouracil has some relation to TWIST1 in its mechanism of tumour suppression.

"TWIST1 suppression in CRC cells sensitizes them to 5-FU-induced apoptosis."
