Dear HairlossTalk Members -

MTV is looking for guys between the ages of 17 and 28 (the younger the better) who are losing their hair for an upcoming documentary. We think this is an amazing opportunity to represent your age group to millions of other guys who may never find this website, but are struggling with this issue. We really want to get good information out there, and help as many people as possible. I know you guys under age 20 are out there, so please email the address below, and Elyse will get back with you promptly.

Hurry, as they are looking for people immediately, and will begin filming sometime mid to end of January. You wont miss the holidays if you participate.

MTV’s documentary series, “True Life,â€￾ is casting young people who are losing their hair for a new episode

Are you too young to be losing your hair? Do you have thinning hair due to unlucky genetics or stress, and it's affecting your self-esteem? Are you hesitant to go out in public and interact with people because you think they'll stare at you? Do you try to cover your head with hats, or are you obsessed with hair products that promise to regain growth? If you have answered 'yes' to any of these, then MTV would like to hear your story!

Since its initial episode in 1998, MTV's award-winning True Life documentary series has told remarkable real-life stories of young people and the unusual subcultures they inhabit. Whether documenting the lives of gay marriage activists, individuals dealing with obesity, or teens in high school--the True Life series tells its stories solely from the varied voices and points-of-view of its characters--putting the series in the unique position of reflecting the state of youth culture at any given moment.

If you appear to be between the ages of 17-28 and are losing your hair and would like to share your story, please email us at bodyimage@mtvn.com. Please include your name, age, your story, a phone number and a photo.

I'm considering it since mtv is based here in ny and I'd almost certainly get picked. I hate that network with a passion though and don't trust how they would edit/represent me.

What would they offer, besides a chance to have a documentary made off of your misery? Money maybe?

I've been a long time fan of "True Life", it really is one of the most well made documentary programs on television, right up there with HBO documentaries.

However, I do feel that they are in the business of ratings, and that usually means making high drama out of people's lives, showing the grittiest most embarrassing stuff possible, so anyone who is considering applying should watch some past episodes and be very careful about what you're getting yourself into

I will definitely be tuning in for this one - I'm sure it will have lots of interesting info on the big 3!

I actually hope they pick a handful of successful male pattern baldness kids like some on this board who have been able to fight baldness with the big three. I just don't think I would be able to go on the show and put myself on display like that though. God bless anyone who does. Keep us updated and let us who (if anyone) from this board goes on and when this episode will air. It would be the first time I watch MTV in years.

I would say Kiel would be perfect for this casting call and he could wear his bracelets and promote his business but the show is about hair loss and we all know Kiel is not going to be able to pull that off too well.

ill admit ive watched several episodes of the show but honestly the people that end up on these shows are fuckin morons.....the one about steroids was a joke..the people really didnt know anything..so i feel this episode will be like that

i bet you theyll have someone who ended up at bosley or one of those places..i highly doubt someone like us with knowledge will be on there..but nonetheless ill tune in to laugh

I already spoke to Kiel and he declined, sadly.

I thought they were looking for people with actual hairloss.

Ps I've seen enough of these bald documentries to be pretty sceptical.

I hope they show both sides of the issue. Not just the good looking guy who has lost some hair (where it doesn't look that drastic) and has moved on from it. Show the guy who looked decent, now lost it all and looks horrific and it has devastated him too.

hehe, if i wouldnt know better, id say you talking about yourself there....

(j/k hair transplant)

But anyone will actually do, the issue should be raised as much as posible to encourage awarness.... being bald is one thing but being young bald is another (and by young in not only saying 18/19/20, 30 falls in the category too!), what btw reminds me that just afew days ago i met a guy, who was no more th 19..maybe 20 he had a complete nw7, i felt so bad for him, tho it doesn show but i bet it was a huge impact on him being bald at hes age....

You have to remember it doesn't affect everyone nearly as bad as it does some for people. They let it go because 'they don't have any control over it'.

Some do, I agree. But people tend to group "baldness together". I mean a guy like Matt Lauer is grouped with I don't know Jason Alexander. They are not the same. I think that is the problem with the whole "labeling" thing you know? I see Matt Lauer's hair and I would give anything to have his degree of thinning.

I just have a feeling they will show a bunch of mid 20 year old's with minor balding, and then one bald guy who is really good looking and doesn't look bad.

I'll gladly say it how it is on national TV. I'm going to send them an email shortly, as soon as I scan my driver's license again, so they see what I looked like before hair transplant. But I think they want someone who is too pathetic to go outside at all. I go outside by myself. I just don't bother approaching any women or sociallizing with people because I already no that no woman wants a bald guy. No point in playing that game. I'd rather workout for now and save my emotional energy. Think they'd take me?

You know if you go on that show, everyone will think you are the biggest loser ever. That is why most people don't even call out of help. They better pay you well. I'd want at least $10,000, though $50,000 would make me very happy. I'd use the money for HM, and would tell them that too.
