Lasercomb study

I’ve just looked at the study and it’s quite clear why they have not posted it for all to see, because it did not work very well. Here is the fat of it,
LaserComb (N=72) Placebo (N=40)

Subjects’ Assessment of Overall Hair Regrowth
Mean Change From Baseline in %

No Growth 36.8% vs 53.9%
Minimal Growth 39.5% vs 41.0%
Moderate Growth 22.4% vs 5.1%
Dense Growth 1.3% vs 0%

Basically this shows that only 22% of people are likely to get a cosmetically noticeable benefit from using the comb, with only 1% getting dense growth.

This means that 75% give or take did not receive any noticeable growth from using the lasercomb, and THAT’S why they did not send Spencer, or the Balding blog the study, because it shows 75% of people get no real effect from using it.

So lasercombs dont work very well?

Or is this just some weak version?

Too bad if that were the case, because Im thinkin about buying in the (near) future.

Aye waste of money. This is the weak powered brush, as for the helmets over at OMG, i'm not sure, as they have much more laser diodes at work. Yet to see any definitive proof however.

There's A LOT of people over at regrowth that say they work, yet I still haven't seen a decent before and after photo :dunno:

I think its good for diffusers and if it wasnt for me being a broke student, I would have bought a laserhelmet already.

Man, you get 2 extra hairs for every cm2 on your scalp. That's what, 50 hairs at most?

How exactly are lasers supposed to aid in hair growth?
Do they work by heating up the follicle slightly, improving blood flow?
Wouldn't this just increase the DHT supply?
Is there even any proof that increased blood flow aides in hair growth?
Considering that in (much) higher power they actually destroy the follicle? (as used in Laser Hair Removal)

I read all this sh*t about laser helmets yet I never hear a satisfactory explanation of how they actually work
It all seems like comedy to me, tbh.
The fact that these "combs" sell for £400 and consist of a plastic housing containing £20 worth of diodes smells even more of a scam to me.
Anyone who buys one of these for £400 after browsing these boards (and OMG's website) deserves to have their money taken off of them. On the other hand, people who build them, well, good luck, even if it doesn't work, I suppose it's a fun project to build one.

i just built one, it was a cool project. it's got 220 diodes. i'm doing my 2nd treatment tonight. with all the positive feedback over at the other site i'm pretty excited to see how well this works out. time will tell i guess.

i built a 100 diode version in january.... used it for the first two months but stopped because i thought it made me recede quicker.

then i took a 2 month break.

i am confident it thickened up my hair but not sure whether it worsened the receding.

i'm using it once again.

The hairmax laser comb, did NOT get approval for hair growth. It didn't. They are extremely clever scum though.

Petchky, I take it you are the same person posting on here?

http://www.thebaldtruth.com/hair-loss/w ... b-studies/

You originally posted the SUBJECTS assessment not the

Table 15: Investigator’s Global Assessment of Hair Growth at 26 Weeks
Assessment LaserComb Placebo P-Value
(N=72) (N=38)
n (%) n (%)
No growth 46 (63.9%) 22 (57.9%)
Minimal growth 18 (25.0%) 10 (26.3%)
Moderate growth 7 (9.7%) 5 (13.2%)
Dense growth 1 (1.4%) 1 (2.6%)

So, things are even worse. This thing does NOTHING for hair.

Don't even mention the word "approval". How can it get approval for hair grow with results like that? It is a pathetic piece of JUNK.

Nene - Yes mate, 16 months post op now, very happy...i'll post some more pics in hair transplant section soon. I tried uploading some to the social network but my computer crashed! My hair is at it's longest for years, before I had to keep it short.

KeepTheHair - Yep that's me on baldtruth. The lasercomb got approval for safety, but not that it works for hair loss. The cunning people at Hairmax deliberately word it so that it sounds like it has the nod from the FDA for hairloss, when they don't.

Hairmax must of spent an absolute fortune on marketing and paying hack doctors to promote their wares...shame they didn't spend it on actually coming out with a product that works!!!

Don't know if it is still there but on baldtruth they had a radio interview with Dr Feller arguing against the lasercombe, and the known hack Dr Alan Bauman, who is paid to promote the lasercombe....Feller absolutely wiped the floor with Bauman, it was almost embarrassing.

I know man... I would never even consider a transplant with Dr. Alan Bauman just because of that interview.

Dr. Feller seems like one of the good guys. One of the much better doctors out there!

This world is full of scum and it's quite a minefield man. I think they even get people to post on forums, since that is a smart thing to do. The stuff doesn't work man.

What a world we live in, hopefully people make the right choices. But in desperation there is no time to do a months research.
