Is this thinning? If so, what would you recommend I do next?

Hi all,

I have recently had my haircut shorter than the usual length and in my opinion I appear to be thinning.

Would anyone else agree? I would appreciate feedback as to whether I should take action on this.

if I did need to take action what would you recommend in terms of treatments?

I am 24 years old.

All pictures were taken today.

It is possible that your hairline is just going from NW1 to NW2, but you just never know if it will stop there. The second to last pic of your crown is concerning. What is your family history like? Do you have similar hair to one of your relatives, a similar hairline, similar pattern at some point in their life?

That's a bizarre but not unusual hair line necessarily. Do you have pics from 5 years ago, even? What's happening is that you have hair that juts in towards your face and it makes it impossible for me to sketch out an oval hair line which is what most juveniles, women and men without any hair loss usually have. So you have this jutting piece near the temples and you have a widow's peak with small amounts of temple loss which gives you sort of an M-shaped hair line. Guys like Christian Slater have this and Pacino and Nicholson too but Nicholson did go into actual balding but the other two mostly lost in front, last that I saw them. Often widow's peaks appear to be protective in a Bayesian sense unless there is crown hair loss which you do not appear to have. My prediction is that you maintain the hair line except you will have more loss in the temples but very slowly. You might not lose hair in front of the ears like many men do. My pic below shows an oval or canopied hair line.

I am trying to reference hair patterns like yours and the mentioned actors to see if I can see anything empirically in general in other men for predictive purposes. You might be the guy who doesn't need the hassle of treatment but it depends on your risk aversion. I would go on finasteride anyway for easier sleep at night about am I receding. If you see any crown loss, then you have to move quickly. This is Evil Ed from Frriigght Night in 1985, I believe. It's been a while for him, like me but I guess he's bald now:

Looks like you might have natural low density with fine hair so it can be deceiving. I agree with @Norwoody as the second to last photo looks suspicious. You should see a hair loss specialist to be sure.

Hi all. Thanks for your replies and apologies for the delay. I personally think I am losing hair to be honest with you.

My maternal uncle had went bald. My maternal grandfather lost some hair but not all of it and my father is a NW1 with not hair loss whatsoever

First two photos were took under sunlight through a window. Third photo is its condition when wet. I also have this random thin patch on the last photo which I never used to have.

What would you recommend in terms of next steps? How would I approach this to try and achieve the best results possible? Any suggestions please such as shampoos etc.

I appreciate the feedback.

Thank you.

Here is a couple photos taken today under direct sunlight. Appears to be quite thin. Could this be diffuse thinning?
