Hi
Long essay here lol. So i suffering from hair loss and have been taking propecia for 6 months and minoxidil on and off for years. I also am very much into body building so take anabolic steroids. I spoke today with the Belgravier centre where I get my propecia from and they advice that as I’m on steroids, taking propecia is pointless if not will make hairless even worse and adviced me that if I plan to stay on steroids then i should stop propecia and take minoxidil 12.5% and also 5% one in morning and one night time. Does anyone have information on weather taking propecia while on steroids is pointless or even dangerous. The Belgravier Centre saying with taking propecia while taking test is a waste of time and is not a good idea. Any advice on taking propecia while on steroids and also except for minoxidil do you know of any other things to help me that does not include quitting taking steroids lol. Laser comb? Nioxin? Derma roller?
Thanks any advice would be amazing

It will only help with test, many other steroids aren't 5ar reduced or actually become less androgenic when 5ar reduced so finasteride won't help in those cases. If you insist on running anything i'd stick to test only or low test + some other low androgenic steroid like tbol or eq, and upgrade to dutasteride.

Hi thank you for your reply. Going forward I’m only going to use test and Eq. The docs at belgravier centre said even test would counter act propecia and may cause gyno
To be honest from what I have read teat is ok to take with propecia but they say otherwise. They also say taking test and propecia may accelerate hair loss and advice to just take minoxidil so I’m a little lost on what to do lol
Sorry to go on

It depends how much testosterone. Testosterone by itself does not cause hair loss. Higher serum testosterone levels have actually been shown to be a net positive. The hair loss occurs when there is an upregulation of ARs in the follicle and increased 5AR activity. Taking extremely high doses of testosterone will cause higher DHT (Propecia does not block 100% of the enzyme) and it can also activate the increased AR receptor density. High normal Testosterone alone is fine.

Thank you for your reply it’s much appreciated. I’m only going to take test now. Before I took test tren mast and winstrel but have read those are bad for hairloss except test. So if I just take test will propecia help? And is it safe to do and won’t cause health problems or Gyno. Been on propecia 7 months and no issues. It’s just my hair specialist got me worried by saying propecia won’t work if I’m taking test and I should sto and just take minoxidol. Could you give your opinion please? Thank you

Testosterone does have a binding affinity to the androgen receptor so to say testosterone doesn't harm hair at all isn't true. It's minimal in comparison to the damage DHT can do, but I do believe there are some who are extra sensitive to testosterone's effect on hair.

There have been studies that show good testosterone levels are GOOD for hair (alone with Estrogen that comes from this). The problem arises when the tissue itself becomes a hot bed of androgen production (DHT conversion) and increased ARs.

Ok thanks for the advice. Do you know if proplecia can be taken whilst on testerone? I read things like tren, winstel are much worse for hair than test by itself
