Thread title sums it up. I was prescribed generic Proscar (5mg finasteride), and was instructed by my doctor to cut them in fourths and take 1.25mg/day. In an attempt to minimize potential side effects, I've decided to gradually work up to 1.25mg/day by splitting the 5mg pill in eighths, or 0.625mg/day.

Is 0.625mg/day finasteride effective at treating male pattern baldness? (as compared to 1mg/day or 1.25mg/day).

I'm getting "early good signs" with 1 mg EOD. Been thinking of taking 0.6 mg ed though myself. Might be slightly better than now. Anyway, yes it's pretty much the same as 1 mg a day so I wouldn't worry.
