Is my hair receding? Confused

Hi guys...

I'm currently 18 years old, and am quite concerned about what I believe is my receding hairline. My maternal grandfather has the finest and healthiest head of hair I have ever seen, having still maintained its fullness at the age of 83. My paternal grandfather - and father - have both gradually developed an accentuated widow's peak. I have got my mother's hair colour, and desperately hope I have her hair strength too, but it seems unlikely! Anyway, what do you guys think?

Depends how long your hair has been like this. If it just started then you are probably going bald. If your hair has always like that then, you just have a naturally high hair line. Do you have thick hair or fine hair? Thick hair tends to go bald 80% often then fine hair.

I have always had this distinctive peak in the middle, since I've been a child. I don't know if it's getting more accentuated, though.. My impression is that it is. What really got me wondering was the thin and short hairs right at the edge of my hairline which, if I am not mistaken, is miniaturisation in progress? (My understanding of the topic is very shallow).

I am sure I won't be bald, as in Mr. Clean, but I'm quite keen on keeping an 100% full head of hear if possible.

Yes, your hairline is receding and its not uncommon for male pattern baldness to start at the young age of 18, it happens to thousands and thousands of people every year. It is genetic and you have probably inherited the baldness gene from someone in your family, it might not be your father or maternal grandfather but someone else. It skips generations...

What you can do is get yourself a prescription for finasteride (proscar, propecia etc etc) and , if you feel like it, start using minoxidil (rogaine). It will not keep your hair forever but it will delay the whole process for a couple of years.

And as for the "sure i wont be bald, as in Mr. Clean" comment i would not be so sure, when the hairline starts to recede at the young age of 18 it is very likely that your hairloss is aggressive and that you might face a pretty high number on the norwood scale.

Best of luck to you!

Do what you can now like above poster says by seeing a good derm or doctor and in about 5 years there might be much more effective ways to keep your hair for a lot longer. Propecia is not strong enough to stop male pattern baldness forever

Take Dutasteride 0.5 mg it can be purchased from Inhouse Pharamacy or Pharamacydirect GB. This is best for hair regrowth.

is that all you ever say?

If you're in the beginning stages of male pattern baldness, you should start with Finasteride/Propecia, not Dutasteride

I think he's a robot.

John, the pictures are a bit blurry, but your hair does look thin past the hairline. On the bright side, my hairline started to recede at your age and I still have a lot of hair left now at the age of 37 (didn't start treating it until last year). I'd recommend you go and see your doctor, and try Finasteride. Stay away from dutasteride, at least until you find out how Finasteride works for you.

shadow is obviously nervous about using dutasteride, and getting others to use it makes him feel more at ease, because there will be more ppl in the same position if it doesnt work out.

i had the same thing fomr a friend ages ago, who wanted me to use finasteride just so he wasnt the only one (out of our group).

Shadow has been banned. Clearly a shill for a particular Pharmacy. They have been spamming this forum for years. This one got 100 posts under his belt but they have all been deleted.
