I was wondering, after getting back my blood tests it was shown that my testosterone levels were markedly elevated (not very much), I was wondering if this is expected while taking propecia?

thanks

It is normal. Finasteride decreases dihidrotestosterone in your body but increases testosterone. This is because the testosterone wich was supposed to get converted in to dht is unable to do so due to finasteride.

In most cases, yes, T levels are elevated when you first start drugs like finasteride. You might experience oily skin, and acne which result from excessive free floating T acting on skin glands etc. But, your body usually adjusts itself and oily skin etc reverts to normal. Theoretically, T levels are also balanced by your body through negative feedback system in body. We would be interested in knowing how long you have been using finasteride and when you had your T level test and if T high levels are constant for you or if there has been fluctuation.

If your body eventually regulates your skin & T levels I wonder if it would also eventually regulate your DHT levels to how they were pre-finasteride by increase the 5AR enzyme production to counter the effects of finasteride?

I hope not and does anyone have values on how much it increases T? Like finasteride does by 10% and dutasteride by 15%? I know it is going to be individual specific, but some general values may be helpful.
