Hi,
I think finasteride destroyed my hairs
Currently using 1mg finasteride a day, and using it 4 months now. I can’t see any regrow yet and i notice allot of miniaturized hairs. My whole midscale went from think long hairs to small thin miniaturized hairs.
I know i that sometimes a shed will occur, but this is extreme.

Always had long thick hair, pics in suit before fina.

Should i stop using fina?

Hey man, the same thing happened to me when i started finasteride.. im a year on the stuff now but im slowly weening off it. My hair just got worse and worse and never got better. My advice to you is get on oral minoxidil.. you might shed like a b**ch on it but it is worth the end result believe me. I would drop the finasteride, some people like us simply respond badly to it and im glad you also posted pictures. Some people will fight to the death about this being all in our heads and how finasteride could never do something like this, when quite obviously it can.. its just a rare occurance. Good luck man, and thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your answer. Whats your advice, stop completely or use it till the 6 month mark and than evaluate. First i thought it is a normal shed, but this is extreme. Also if i stop using fina, will the hairs that i lost ever return?

Well i kept on using right up to the year and i can tell you i did not improve, so i would drop the crap. Nobody can tell you for certain that hairs lost on finasteride will return, ive heard stories from people that they did come back and others that didnt. One thing for sure is your hair loss should slow down when you stop. I am regrowing the lost hair from finasteride by using oral minoxidil. I did shed with that but unlike finasteride these hairs are indees growing back. Dont give up the fight with hair loss, just use something else..
Also, did you get any side effects from finasteride?

I cant use minoxidil because of my hearth. The usual side effect i had. Some weeks low libido, itchy chest sometimes and some little pain by testicles. After the first 2 months i noticed that my hair was thinning and ''miniaturizing''. I ignored it because i thought it was the ''shed''. But after 2 extra months the hair on my midscalp begin to thin..

Thats a shame, theres not much else you could do then.. i would look into Zix, it is a topical that seems to maintain hair. Or you could use RU? Its another topical, but a research chemical.

@Mr. Prince Yes my body hair is growing like crazy

4 months is way too soon to stop at this point, try to get the full results from finasteride before throwing in the towel, if you don't you'll likely regret not sticking it out in the future.

With that said, it can very well be f*****g your hair up, in 14 months in and I think I've thinned a little more since starting

If you want to be sure, wait until you hit your 6 months of treatment. I mean it is possible it could still be a shed, but from what i've read and experienced things are just going to get worse. I would not say your shed is normal, maybe with minoxidil but not with finasteride. Keep a close eye on it, i personally would drop it and find something else but that is your choice to make.

@AnxiousAndy is it just thicker and more dense or are you getting growth in areas that were hairless?
Both, but the hairs that are growing on bald spots are coming in slowly, i think by month 6 things will be looking much better.
