I was on topical finasteride and min for a year before I added oral dutasteride to the regimen(didn't stop the topicals). My hairfall stopped, but the miniaturisation at the hairline increased. My beard became thinner, but my erections became harder and by body odor returned(these were weaker when I was on only finasteride). Also increased acne on face. My T is around 840. I also have some cognitive effects, though they are mild.

It's almost been a year since starting dutasteride, and I don't know how much longer should I wait for it to work. Do I have reflex hyperandrogenicity? A part of me feels going back to only finasteride would stop this loss, the other part is scared that dutasteride is the only thing keeping my hair.

The pics are in order, from the day before starting dutasteride. Ik it might seem I haven't lost hair but I absolutely have, idk why I didn't take better pics before.

I've waited 1.5 yrs and I'm now quitting dutasteride due to dry eye, I think my hair got a bit denser in general but a lot thinner so ended up looking worse, it's also very oily now for some reason.
I believe youtube channels like kwrx say that sometimes you need to wait for up to 3yrs for results or even longer. With finasteride I got regrowth in 6months so I don't really buy it. While dutasteride works for some, it doesn't for others, seems like a 50/50 at best judging from online posts. Btw I was also on a very low dose dutasteride, just 1 0.5mg cap a week, finasteride 1mg EOD.

Are you consistently shedding on dutasteride? Did you have alot of increased oilness on scalp?

aren't you only using dutasteride once per week? So how could you say it's not effective? You need to use it at least 3 times per week.

Hes on finasteride the rest of the days and dutasteride once a week. dutasteride has a long half life anyway and a study was done on dutasteride once a week and the rest of the days 1mg finasteride. No idiot would only use dutasteride once a week lmao.

It's hard to say given the inconsistent angles but at face value it does look worse. From my experience Finasteride did hurt my hairline. Only when I incorporated oral Minoxidil did it get better but it didn't last forever. I did try Dutasteride for a while and same thing, accelerated temple recession... now im on 50mg cypro and 10mg OM 2x daily and im seeing hair thickening again. For a small % of people 5ar inhibitors hurt hair, I dont know why but my guess is our follicles are more sensitive to Testosterone than DHT. It theoretically makes sense as people have varying degree's of DHT sensitivity so why not varying degrees of Testosterone sensitivity which is also proven to hurt hair but by a lesser extent for most people? I'd say give it another few months and if there is still no improvement drop the dutasteride and try something like RU which did help me but I had to stop due to financial reasons.
