The thing with hair is, bad hair is always bad hair regardless of age, so although it may get more "acceptable" over time it doesn't change what it is. This effect is amplified in those in the public eye or in a career interacting with different age groups and clients. If he didn't grow it out like that which is ridiculous in someone with advanced balding then the comments would be less. You're right about the long hair being a mask for his baldness. In some pictures he has a middle part which further shows he was trying to conceal his corners and it wasn't just a style.

Everyone is conscious about looks to a point, especially if they tend to branch out in life. Good looks definitely leads to a better time in socialising opportunities, making friends and in certain careers. But as you say it all ends one day so I think it's important to have other passions, interests and life commitments! I do think those good memories can help out weigh ageing as it's something to hold onto but in others it may make them sadder. If you're dealing with look problems (including baldness) at a young age it's way harder to accept other natural changes.

Unfortunately, that's a bit of a myth. Or: wishful thinking.
The body ages much faster than the mind.
Chances are you will find yourself thinking: why can't I do this anymore? rather than oh, I've done this enough.

If he got a shorter haircut, he’d look really good and his hair loss wouldn’t be as pronounced, I mean come on it does look ridiculous even for his age, I think he has decent hair for his age but you can’t make up excuses for this hair cut, it points more attention toward his hairloss on top

No one likes to age for sure but when I've spoken to a few 70 plus people it seems to be that having mobility, health and family/friends is more crucial over looks as that continues their independence and happiness in this different phase of life. I suppose you meant that to an extent when you said "why can't I do this now" in terms of health. It will be harder for newer generations though with fading looks/ageing and especially with the rise in certain mental weaknesses in those predisposed.

This is so damn true. I'm only 31 and have basically a NW1.5 and a NW2 on the other side and I consider myself lucky. I am young and vain enough to browse forums like this one and yet I am most thankful and serene at the times when I think of my health, mobility, and family/friends. You really need to remind yourself that growing old is a privilege denied to many. As you get older, you will start to see people, friends, and family members die, sometimes too young, taken away by cancer or some accident. Really think about how getting a cancer diagnosis would change your life today moving forward. Really think about it. The fear, the problems, your relationships, your job.

Aging sucks, sure. No one's happy with it. Being bald in your early 20s sucks too. Big time. It's a huge deal and I get it. But if you get to live your life until you grow old, even if you're bald, you should be thankful. There's so much that can go wrong. Getting to live out a life in the most peaceful time ever on this planet with relative security and wealth is a thing to be thankful for. Other people quite literally lose it. They go nuts and need serious help, often at quite a young age. Appreciate your physical and mental health.

There is so much that can go wrong in life and not liking what you see in the mirror is part of that but if it's the only thing, it shouldn't be the end of it.

OT: Julian Sands looks f*****g fine. That is a good photo of a 60-year-old.

I grew out a NW4.5 really long and it looked pretty good until I lost my density too, looked amazing with a hat on. It's passable if you have the density but the wind is your worst enemy.

Its difficult to age gracefully, but it is far more difficult if you lose your hair. I get tired of people telling me I look ok for my age and really meaning he looks his age. In my 40s at a Norwood 3 people used to say I looked about 30 now I am 55 & Norwood 4/defuse they just don't say anything.
