I'm 20 And I've Been Obsessing Over My Hairline.

I'm 20 and unfortunately I've been obsessing over my hairline for the past few months. I had a very rough time at school this semester and started to shed a bit more than normal. I started noticing a bit of thinning at my crown and temples. Recently though, I cut my hair from shoulder length to a buzz and even went to a dermatologist to get an opinion. Unfortunately the dermatologist just blew me off and said that I could just start taking finasteride. However I have the feeling that it is unnecessary right now. I did notice that the thinning at my crown got better. But going from a lot of hair to short hair has just left me obsessing. I just want to know what yall think.

Agreed with Murkey
It is hard to tell if your hair is just changing or there is an issue this early. You can always start Finasteride if you realize it is the latter.

finasteride is something you could try. I unfortunately had sides. Do some research see Zix as well. Keep your options open. Good luck.

Nothing to worry about yet. Just eat healthy. And keep physically fit.

Just adding some pics for a better idea. I haven't had short hair for at least 4 or 5 years. So I think it makes it look worse than it is.

Looks like early male pattern baldness, you can even see the thinning hairs at his hairline. You're still in good shape though OP, you are basically Norwood 1.5 I would look into finasteride if you want a chance at saving the rest of your hair!

I'm having the exact problem with you. I'm 30 with a maturing hairline and temple is receding sideways instead of the typical inwards, with a bit of crown thinning thay my dermatologist had dismissed as being paranoid. I'm on Minoxidil and stemoxydine now. Minoxidil has helped to thicken the temples a bit and maintained the crown. A mature hairline may be a precursor to balding because I believe it is the precise biological changes in your scalp that is causing the hairline to recede in the first place. So you may want to consider Minoxidil or zix like what some recommend.

I'm 17 and have similar thinning, I panicked at first but honestly just buzz it down.
I got a really short buzzcut and it makes the thinning less noticable.
