I'm 14. Do You Think This Is An Early Mature Hairline Or What?

My hairline started to change at around 9 or so. I used to have the juvenile norwood 1 but then the squares of hair at my temples started thinning out and then it my hair started to recede back, all of this between the ages of 9-14 mind you.

The hairline is still pretty much straight across at the top but the temples have like baby hairs almost. Also my actual hairline has risen up like a centimetre at most, making my forehead nearly 5 fingers big. I don't think i'm going bald, all I wanna know is what exactly is causing it.

I think it's important to mention too that nobody in my family has started balding until they're at least 40.

The first picture is of me when i was 9 and this all began to happen
The second picture is from a few months ago of my norwood 2 like hairline (again the receded bits have baby like hairs)
The third and fourth photos are from about 2 weeks ago.

Anyways what do you think?

Possible hair loss, I had the same hairline as you at 14 (I'm 20 now) while and it hadn't changed that much since. I do think it is hairloss but hopefully for you to it will be slow like mine was then you can try finasteride and/or minoxidil at 18. Also hairloss can show up at any age soon as you start puberty. I'm the youngest to have it in my family by over a decade so it's not impossible.

Well, that should be a pretty f*****g reassuring situation for you.

Most guys as they get older lose a little hair in the corners of the temple. Frankly, you have a beautiful head of hair right how... but I completely understand you concern about the future trends.

I don't think you should get on any serious hair regimen meds right now, but I do think you should keep an eye on things. In the meantime, if I were you, I think the perfect treatment for you would be to pick up some Nizoral ketoconazole shampoo and use it 3/x week. It is a seb derm fighter, mild hair growth accelerant, and a mild anti-androgen. Use it, and let us know how your scalp feels a month or two afterwards.

Thanks guys

Even tho it wasn't asked for I took some pictures of my crown (wet), one picture with the flash on and the other without.

to give u a better idea about what my hairs currently like.

my temples have receded only a tiny bit more.

Everything is good except the right temple. I recommend you to go to a derm and let him check your entire scalp for miniaturization. That's the only sure way to know whether there's any more hairloss to come if there's any.

I did see a derm a month or 2 ago and he had a very quick look and said i was fine.

Also I probably couldn't see one again because my parents are persistent that i'm not losing any hair at all

Did he take a look just with the naked eye?? Was he a derm or a GP?? How long did his inspection of your hair last??

he put something on his eye, had a 10-20 second look then said "yep you're not balding", something to that effect.

he was more of a skin specialist tho

Derms pretty much know everything about hair. Though a trichologist is much more preferred. What he put on his eye was a microscope. He was checking for miniaturization. I actually wanted to know if he used a microscope or not. Since he used it,I'm pretty sure that you're not balding. You still unsure about your hairloss tho?? How much do you shed btw??

I shed to my knowledge no more than 100 hairs a day. Usually 10 on my pillow when I wake up, nothing alarming.

Also I had the urge to scratch at the receded spots and he mentioned some inflammation, though i HIGHLY doubt it has anything to do with my recession. I don't think he was checking for miniturization.

Well, the thing he put on his eye must most probably be a magnifier which helps in checking for miniaturization. Why do you doubt that?

because he never said "there's no signs of hairloss" or gave an explanation for the recession. he just said "you're not going bald at the moment". Though at the same time he probably didn't have to, idk.

also he only checked one temple.

Since you're clearly not satisfied with your experience with that derm,I would suggest you to consult one with a better reputation. Find the best one in your area through google and pay him a visit. And don't listen to your parents as they usually know squat about hairloss, male pattern baldness or most probably don't even care about such "trivial" issues. I would definitely nag them to make you visit a more competent derm

I can try convince my parents to see a better derm then. Thanks for helping me out

Don't mention it. And keep us updated kid.
ok so I went to a hairstylist today for a trim. I mentioned my receded temples to her and she said it was completely normal and that it's just your hairline, then she proceeded to life up her hair revealing her temples had receded allot more than mine.

Also I believe those pictures make my hairline look worse than what it is because of my computer camera. here are 4 other photos of my hairline I took just now in the mirror In higher quality.

I asked my mum allot of times to go to a better derm but wouldn't budge and said "we already took you to one stop obsessing theres nothing wrong with your hair". It's gonna take allot more convincing

Also sometimes when I pull back my hair on my right temple, it recedes all the way back to the front of my ear.

Yeah, you're hairline is not in need of any major chemical introductions as of yet. Just pick up some Nizoral 2% Keto shampoo, and use it 3x/week.

Remember that some treatments, like Rogaine, are a one shot deal. You use them once, its kind of like hitting the "turbo" button, and you see improvement and regrowth, but then it levels out.... and you have to keep on using it for the rest of your life. I don't think your hairline is in such a bad position where you are needing to hit the "turbo" button to fix it. Save that option until later, until the time comes when/if you start seeing some REAL diffusion or recession.

The Nizoral 2% Keto shampoo is a mild anti-androgen, mild hair growth accelerant, and fights scalp irritation that sometimes is a symbiotic problem with male pattern baldness. I think it's perfect for you right now.

Correction to the above.... I was just in the bathroom and checked out my bottle of Nizoral. Nizoral is 1% Keto.

And... question? Do you have any itching or irritation in the temple area where you have noticed some thinning?

For me, when I use Nizoral, every now and again I apply it, then turn off the shower and relax in the tub and really let it soak for several minutes. I swear my scalp feels so good after a good nizoral soak. And, for myself, periods of scalp recession were always accompanied by scalp irritation. I know some will say the cause/effect I am presenting is *** backwards, but when my scalp is feeling good, usually my hair is NOT falling out... and nizoral makes my scalp feel good.

So you think my hairline is receding?

As far as the nizoral shampoo I'll try convince my parents to get some for me.

My scalp isn't itchy, but on the very rare occasion I get the urge to scratch it a bunch where the baby hairs are. But this only happened recently.
