Damn, you guys know a lot about hair. After reading that 3 times to get it, I feel like steven hawking now.

Do you guys think that gene therapy might be effective to alter those bad DP in thinning areas.

Gene therapy is still in it's infancy and only good for very few diseases at the moment. (usually single mutations).

The problem with our dermal papilla is they are not "bad", just different.

I did read a study where they used antisense oglionucleotides (kind of like gene therapy, it suppreses RNA being transcribed) to completley supress the androgen receptor in the skin. These have been around for quite some time though, and I don't know why more funding isn't being put into them....

Well in my opinion, the problem with hair loss research is that experiments to answer these questions are very slow to be done.

I haven't got much time until weekend, then i plan to offer an alternative explaination for the differences in normal scalp and male pattern baldness follicles in my post in the "studies" forum.
