Gene therapy is still in it's infancy and only good for very few diseases at the moment. (usually single mutations).
The problem with our dermal papilla is they are not "bad", just different.
I did read a study where they used antisense oglionucleotides (kind of like gene therapy, it suppreses RNA being transcribed) to completley supress the androgen receptor in the skin. These have been around for quite some time though, and I don't know why more funding isn't being put into them....
