hey all, if anyone has had hair issues caused by thyroid, what level did you aim for when treating?

my TSH is currently 1.58 which is normal range, but i have read that sometimes below 3.0 can cause a Telogen Effluvium. i haven't been able to recover from a rapid diffuse thinning back in early 2014 and i'm searching for a trigger, and suspect it may be a combination of thyroid and low ferritin.

thanks for your help.. hoping to get back on the right path.

High TSH means low thyroid activity which is hypothyroidism. This can actually lead to increased hair shedding and eventual loss.
"TSH levels typically fall between 0.4 and 4.0 milliunits per liter (mU/L), according to the American Thyroid Association. "

Look for other triggers like stress, trauma, diet and ferritin too. If diffuse thinning has progressed, it could be androgenetic alopecia, which is almost impossible to stop unless you're on minoxidil and other therapies. None of these are without side-effects and there are no guarantees.
