I Was Nosy And Saw That Hair4all Is Under Liquidation

Edit: I’ve deleted much of my original post as it may have been misleading and can’t work out how to delete it.

However, looking at Companies House website it does appear that Hair4all (incorporated in 2009) is now under liquidation as of October 2019 with a 6 figure deficit which is with insolvency administrators. But Phil incorporated a new version of the company called Hair4all.com (London) Ltd back in January this year which is the registered number now used on their website.

@HenryP - for the sake of the forum you should delete your headline to this post, or if that’s not possible, make it clear that it is a mistake. It is seriously defamatory to suggest that a business is insolvent if you are not sure it’s true, and the readers of this forum obviously include people who are potential customers of Hair4All, so you could be accused of damaging its business. It sounds to me more like just a restructuring of its operations, with no implication of business failure or insolvency.

Would hate to see the Forum or you get caught up in a dispute.

Hi Noah.

The original Hair4all is listed as under liquidation on Companies House which is an official website and all the information is in the public domain, so there is no defamation here. There are copies of insolvency documents signed by Phil last month. My original post had noticed this and was sympathising with Phil as I think he has done great things to make the industry more visible and affordable, more than anyone actually. However after I posted, I went to the hair4all website and saw it had been rebranded as hair4all London (despite being based in Bristol) and saw that the company number they use had changed which is when I found that there was another company listing under the new name on Companies House.

The unusual thing (and the reason I didn’t link this originally) is that on Companies House Phil’s name is listed twice, the first attached to the old company now in liquidation and the second attached to the rebranded version. This is why I missed the link the first time around, as usually when you click on an individual ‘s name it tells you how many companies they are linked to (so in Phil’s case it should have been two), but as he has two separate ’profiles’ it only linked to one.

I must admit I am curious what will happen to the deficit now that insolvency administrators have been brought in, if what is essentially the same company in all but name is still going to continue.

I can’t see a way to edit the title or full post, I was searching desperately! That’s why I edited the main body of the text to clearly say the title may be misleading (although the original hair4all IS in liquidation so it was fact). I’ll try to contact the admin anyway.

They've re branded the sale themselves.

Did they have excessive debt then? Is that what I should take from this?

If it's a creditors' liquidation (which it is) that means the directors don't think it's solvent. It doesn't necessarily mean the brand will disappear - the brand and the business could be sold off to a new solvent company - but it means that the creditors of the original are likely not going to get paid in full.

I'm a bit sad to see that. Not everyone is a fan of Phil Osmond, but he was a pioneer of affordable high quality lace systems for men in the U.K.

They have rebranded as "Hair4all london". As well as increasing their prices (which were already on the expensive side).

I am not sure what issues people have with Phil Osmond but he does a great job on Youtube. He really does push the community. And a very important thing: Hair4all were very keen on teaching you how to do some home maintenance.

I expect there will be no issue for people who have ordered through them at least.

Yeah I always thought he seemed a nice chap, just kinda cringeworthy in his branding and the people he chooses to appear in his videos usually look like they are wearing hats or doll hair and keep saying ‘nobody can tell, it’s so natural!’. On the other hand it’s just great that he has been so accessible and seems transparent, and most of his clients seem to adore him which speaks for itself. I also find his relationship with his gay clientele heartwarming as they obviously have good banter.

I think the true breakthrough will come when salons begin to emerge that are as sexy and professional as Heydecke in Hamburg but with affordable (ok, cheap!) prices including regular maintenance. I think something like the mh2go prices sound reasonable (for those who don’t want to order and do it themselves) which is why I will go to them, but I hope in future there are larger salons that don’t look like someone’s low-rent bathroom or office (unfortunately that includes hair4all but that’s not a criticism as this was somewhat reflected in the price), somewhere with well-trained knowledgable staff who understand how to give a slick ‘experience’. Basically Heydecke but cheaper! (Prob not possible but one can dream).

Wearing a wig will never be ‘cool’ for men, even if Quiff & co try to persuade you that it is, but Heydecke make the offering as ‘cool’ as it can be, which helps to challenge stigma and preconceptions. I also hope to see some kind of breakthrough with the hairlines of systems in the next few years. Even all the ‘good’ systems people on this forum have shown in their pics, have all looked like wigs to my eye for one reason or another. Usually the weird ‘wet’ and messy look of the style that wearers convince themselves are trendy; the darker colour; the weird undercut look or the dodgy saucer-rim hairlines. Dear lord why can’t they invent a pill to give us all our hair back instead of the indignity of gluing rugs to our heads????!

I guess it depends on what you are looking at. I have seen some great hairlines from a number of sources.

What is weird about Bristol, I wonder if it's still like that, but you have TWO hair replacement places in ONE salon.

One entrance for Mike and the other for Phil.

Ooh I didn’t know about a Mike! Does he work under a different company name? I’ve only seen the outside from google maps, it just looked like a house with a sign on the front! I’ve seen one hot guy who I thought was Phil’s son in videos.
