Ok so let me start with my family history.

My dad is still a nw1 at 40, my dads dad had a full head of hair until he died at 38 or so. My uncle has a receding hairline at 50, around nw3.

My mums dad had a full head of hair until 40-ish, then he developed a receding hairline and had a nw6 by 50. My great grandpa had a nw2 in his 20's then started to bald at around 30-40 (i think). He was a nw7 at around 50-60 i think.

Despite the majority of my family balding later on in life. I think I could be balding at 14. It sounds crazy, but my temples are thinning and I think i'm at around a nw2-ish. Not 100% sure. Anyways what do you think? Do you belive i'm balding? Is it a maturing hairline? Whats happening?!

It’s RARE to start balding at 14, unless you started puberty at 10 and can grow a full beard and whatnot (caused by androgens). Do you have any pictures to compare those to from a year, maybe more ago?

I found this one from december 2016, sorry for the bad quality, but theres thin hairs on the temple there aswell, only difference i think there is from that one and now is that its slightly gotten bigger.

I would see a dermatologist as soon as you can, because it may be a scalp issue and not male pattern baldness at that age.

I feel you, I'm 15 and not sure if I'm losing hair or not. Though it looks good, you should try and get some pictures of your crown, I've notices it's common for people in our age range to have uneven or receded looking hairlines, though I find if you look back you probably had that hairline your entire life :/

You should ask your parents if they have any pictures of you when you were younger. Even if your hairline isn’t directly exposed in them, it’s possible to get a good approximation of where it was before. It’s entirely possible that you were just born with a high hairline.

I could be wrong, but I think I developed the thin temples at around the time i started to grow my hair long (around age 12).

I found this photo when I was 12 and had short hair, the temples look ever so slightly thin, but not a whole lot

I have another photo from when I was around 9 with spiked hair showing off my hairline, which is a solid nw1

My crown appears to be slightly thin, but not awfully thin. My hairline has changed over the years from what I can tell. When I was 9 I had a nw1 and 12 It became a straight hairline, and to now which appears to be a nw2. I could be wrong, but that's what i've come to the conclusion to.

Here's a picture of my crown anyway if you wanna see it. I think it's worth mentioning too that it's about the size of an australian 5 cent piece, or the size of a thumb nail.

That crown is normal imo

Crown looks normal, so do your photos of when you were 9. Simple fact: It's possible to recede or lose hair at the ages of 9-11 I doubt you've lost any hair at age 12-13 either, it's highly unlikely. Try and look back at past photos and look if your sides kind of went back and not straight, this is an indication of a uneven hairline, you'll notice others at your school and even girls have this. Chances are your hairline probably has remained the same throughout the years, sometimes it's hard to tell with the hairstyle you had, or because really minor changes in hairlines are easy to not notice and disguise

Unless you went through puberty at 10 and can grow a beard you're probably fine, I'd just pass it off, you'll notice your friends may be going through the same thing, as it stands now, worst case scenario it's a mature hairline. I'd say just check back in a couple months or year, make sure you don't stress over it either,

The guys at my school for the most part have nw1s, a few kids with v shaped ones at most, but most with straight hairlines or hairlines like the one I had when I was 9 (nw1) but none have as severe a hairline from what I can tell. Maybe I've been looking at it too long, Idk.

The girls do have receded looking temples on some that look worse than I have, but thought that it doesn't really matter if a girl has it, but that if a guy has it it's a different story since men suffer from balding more commonly than women? Idk.

Lastly my hairline when I was 13 years 10 months (December last year) had thin temples like I do now, only I believe that now it's slightly larger. (Pics shown in previous posts).

Nethertheless, I'll try not to stress about it. And hope for the best.

Unless your temple are visibly thinning IE it looks chewed out or there's stripes and bands of "nothingness" then you should be fine, this applies to the sides as well. The reason it doesn't matter for girls is a Male-dominant hormone known as DHT which is an advanced form of Testosterone which is a male dominant hormone responsible for "maleness". Girls obviously don't have as much, nor do there hairlines recede in most cases.

It could just be your perception, I used to think everyone had "thick full heads of hair" that weren't balding of course and people will slight scalp in there crowns were balding. turns out everyone has more scalp visibility than they think, even women.

But yeah, unless you have a chewed out look or really bad minituriazation or your hairline is noticeably way higher then it once was then you're fine. I wouldn't worry about it for a while, though I know what's its like and how hard it is to not "obssess" After I got home today I literally took like 100 pictures of my scalp to see if there was any difference lol. Chances are you won't notice any difference for a long time, if you're super paranoid you could try Nizoral? Though it's meant usually for people with bad scalp conditions as well. I'm using Nizoral I noticed my sebum buildup and dandruff and inflammation is severely reduced, shedding as well.

Oh right, next point: If you're shedding over about 80-110 hairs a day (noticably by simply shaking your hair) then that's an area of concern, but doesn't always point towards male pattern baldness

Judging by your photos you have a receded hairline. Im not going to sugar-coat it bud. However receding hairlines are not true male pattern baldness. Its when you hit NW3 and\or have diffuse\crown thinning that it becomes definitive. If your receded corners are not thinning then you should be good. I had a bad hairline at your age. im 20 now and still have most of my hair, not all hope is lost.

Actually now that I look at that third photo, it looks like a NW3. What do you think?
