Hello All,

I am a 21 year old male who’s been shedding about 40-60 hairs per day for the past 2 months. My hairline has always been weak around the temples and when I was 19 it turned into the M shape. Some hairs I lose are thick while others are thin. The hairs around the front of my hairline grow long but aren’t as thick as my hairs on top. I will post a comparison pic. Thank you for your advice. I’d like to hold off on finasteride for as long as possible but feel it might be time to start...

I think you'd be a NW2 right now and losing 40-60 hairs per day is normal.. The average person wouldn't be able to tell you have hairloss. Trying finasteride would be worth it.

Thank you very much for your response. Do you think I’d be alright holding off on finasteride until I hit NW3? Do you think this is Male pattern baldness or maybe just a mature hairline?

Diffuse NW2 approaching NW3. Male Pattern Balding, no doubt. Time for finasteride. You can call it a mature hairline if it makes you feel better but it's still the balding. And you are very young too.

When it comes to hairloss it's better to treat it as early as possible to maintain what you have. Looks like male patterned baldness.

Okay. Thanks for your input. I think the M stands for Mature. I accept my fate and probably won’t start finasteride until i qualify for a hair transplant. baldings not too bad.

You have to understand in order to become a good candidate for hair transplantation, you need to be proactive in saving as much hair as you can as early as you can. The less you implant the cheaper the surgery and the more natural it will look. Balding is not something you want at an early age. Just ask this forum. I wouldn't know since I never was losing my hair as young as you.

I don’t want to be scared of something natural. If I lose my hair it’s okay. I’m more worried about enjoying the moment because everyday I’m dying. Death is more relevant than balding. We are only here for a short amount of time.

I would not recommend waiting to start finasteride. The key to beating male pattern baldness is prevention and maintenance. Recovery back from NW3+ tends to be a long and brutal path. Most people who wait that long regret it I think

Honesty, why are you even asking for advice then?

Just shave it bro! Hit the gym and get a tan. Grow some facial hair and you will be a chick magnet.

Thanks for your advice! I guess I’m not a good candidate for hair loss restoration since I’m not motivated enough to keep it. It requires a lot of energy to sit here and wonder about my balding. I could have gone on an hour jog and felt just as tired from overthinking this process of dying. Hair comes and goes for some of us, right bros?

I think you’re crazy. You love finasteride and you love this forum too much. You know what reaction you’d like to see out of a curious lurker. Bald bald bald. Big 3. No part about accepting it. It’s a battle for you guys. Why does life have to be so hard. It’s not a battle if you are the bigger man (with the bigger forehead LOL)
