After 19 months of taking dutasteride I went through major sheds and a little recession. To be honest I think it's just such a strong drug that it kinda just shocks the hair follicles. The ones in the front are usually attacked by dht first and I think it takes a few good sheds to completely revive those follicles. Everyone's different and timing wise of course. Some take longer than others. But generally I think people just panic and blame the drug after a shed or they go to dutasteride when finasteride fails but the fact is sometimes not even dutasteride is enough.

So your frontal area has recovered.

I'm experiencing thinning on all scalp including back lately but it may be related to the minoxidil since I restarted it from a 3 month break.

It shouldn't thin front especcially I dont know why it would work that way and how this myth got popular.

I posted before about the frontal thinning where I thought I was thinning bad in the front.

Perception is a weird thing and after I've calmed down (when the shedding started it was abit scary), I don't think it's really hit my front harder than anywhere else. I think maybe it's just easier to notice the shed in the front siince that's what you see when you look in the mirror. If your hairline is already spotty and thin, it might just be barely enough where you notice it.

I'm about almost 2 months in on dutasteride, so I can't speak for results, but I don't think I've been receeding any faster than normal. I'm telling you this because I think I got to experience atleast some of the unwarrented panic of "dutasteride kills the front!". For a moment I was about to jump on that wagon but I don't feel it's the case anymore (I could be wrong too).

If youre on dutasteride I would say just dont worry. If it wont give you regrowth or new hairline it will definitely keep your hair at its best as long as you're on it.

Been taking Dutasteride daily for the past 41 days. Before I was on Finasteride for 4 years and a half. I'm still shedding and I guess that my hairline is looking a lot worse. No sides so far.

it's a myth. that's happend because duta works better than finas in the front ( it is demostrated in studys), so there is a shedding to replace the old bad hairs. most people get scary with the initial shedding thinking duta is worsening their hairs and they don't wait until the 4/6 months when start a strong regrowth.

I started late June for dutasteride 0.5mg (also taking finasteride 1mg everyday). Experiencing shedding in the front (could be from minoxidil). Gonna stick with it for 6 months and see how it goes.

There is no logical reason why dutasteride would not work the best. I mean finasteride lowers enzyme by 75 and dutasteride is nearly 100 percent.
I think the great mystery is why do some men not respond to dutasteride? You basically have no DHT left at that point why would male pattern baldness continue? I think its the immune system in some men just continues male pattern baldness regardless of what happens after the cascade starts, but who knows really.

I remember hearing DHT was also produced on the very scalp follicle or something.

The question is also: how are you supposed to not have side effects with your DHT levels being that of a 12 year old north korean?

I wouldn't start any treatments only past x-mas, because that's when you meet with family. After x-mas I will add other sh*t before i give up and buy a wig. I dont want to start RU or dutasteride now and have a massive shedding and be looking like sh*t for x-mas in a couple of months.

Im currently experiencing increased frontal thinning on finasteride, i wouldn't dare touch dutasteride as i would probably be bald by the end of the first year. 5ar inhibitors seem to do the opposite of their supposed goal to some people, and i have no clue how that is possible, its like a hairloss paradox lol :(

I'm sorry to hear that andy, It does wonders for some while becomes poison for another. It's tragic really. Hope it's a temporary shedding, some poeple see regrowth after a year or so. Just be consistent with your regimen. I can suggest you to double your finasteride dosage if you can afford it. Take 1 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon as finasteride has a low half-life, morning test increase may be an issue for some. It's worth giving a shot.

I'm pretty sure in the instruction booklet it warns you from double dosing. Be careful before telling people to do dangerous stuff like this.
