Daily? Every other day? Multiple times a day?

Just curious as to what the consensus is...

Me personally, I shampoo every morning plus 2-3 nights a week when I pally Nano shampoo.

So in summary:

Nizoral Every Other Day
Nano 2-3 nights a week...usually 2
Jason Thin to think/other basic thickener on the days I'm not using nizoral in the morning.

Is this too much for my hair? Are these shampoos too strong? I've heard that even Jason Think to Thick is pretty strong.

People need to understand that shampoo does not grow hair back!
It can help the scalp to be healthier and that's it.
I shampoo my hair daily, once a day, every night, around 7 P.M.
Try to wash it way earlier your bed-time.
See you.

I use Nizoral 2-3x a week

The days I don't I use Every Man Jack 2n1 Thickening Shampoo w/ Tea Trea

Shampoo does not do a damn thing for hairloss that's true but some shampoos doe thicken it and I've noticed a difference w/ the one I'm using.

Good luck!

You mean ordinary non-medicated shampoos?

no shampoos make hair grow back ok?!
They help the scalp but does not make a lot for the follicles, directly.
people use topic products hoping that it will help to stop hair loss and maybe grow some hair back, and the topic products stay on the scalp for some hours.
Do you think shampoo, which stays on the scalp for around 5-15 minutes, can do a lot for ur hair loss? it helps you to have a healthy scalp, but don't expect a lot when it comes to growing new hair or stopping hair loss.

What about NANO Shampoo? Don't you think it works? :)

The time that you leave the shampoo on the head/scalp is not enough for the product to be efficiently absorbed by the scalp.
Go for topical medicines..

Bryan, what do you think about shampoo containing estrogens ?
Some shampoos contain estrogen or placenta (gross !). They are no longer sold in Europe but can be found on Internet. A few reports have suggested that hormones found in these products may be associated with early pubertal development. So it seems that there might be a systemic absorption.
I was actually wondering about topical effect on hair. Do you think that it might do something for us ? Do you think that estrogen in a shampoo can penetrate the scalp (if you leave the shampoo longer enough) ?

I do think that estrogen in a shampoo can penetrate the scalp, and probably do some good for male pattern baldness; the only problem is that topical estrogen can penetrate TOO well, and be absorbed systemically. That obviously wouldn't be advisible for us males.

Tell that to Dr. Proctor, who designed NANO Shampoo, and has been using it and observing its effects for 20+ years. He says it _does_ work. Evidently, applying the NANO in the form of a shampoo (to a thoroughly hydrated scalp, of course) is a huge impetus to get the drug sufficiently absorbed.

Believe in whatever you want! Each person reacts different to shampoos, topical medications, pills, etc.
Saying a shampoo can grow hair and stop hair loss is totally bullshit. If the person is losing hair because of the genetics, it is so obvious the person has to go to the most potent stuff in the market for it, once we still don't have the answer for how to stop alopecia and how to grow hair back.
Shampoo helps the scalp, and maybe a little absorption but not that much as lotions, foams, etc.
If you believe on it only because the guy works on that for 20 years, so you are out of your mind. We have in Brazil the Amazon shampoo with natural oils from amazon forest and the guy is selling it for over 30 years and they say it stops hair loss. They even sell it abroad! Try to use it! LoL

Hey, YOU can believe anything you want, too. But Dr. Proctor's long experience with NANO Shampoo means more to me than your subjective a priori ruminations about the supposed lack of effect of shampoos on male pattern baldness.

Here we go again believe, aka misterE's twin. Do you even know the ingredients in dr. Proctors shampoo or their effectiveness before you make such broad sweeping statements as all shampoos do not work? It might not be as completely effective as say finasteride but he gets results which in my book means it works. Oh yeah and he has pictures and experimental proof to back his products unlike your baseless claims.

I don't use shampoo at all, only conditioner. But then again I'm not suffering from hairloss so if the question specifically refers to medicated shampoos to stop hairloss my opinion is worthless. :)

In general shampoo strips all the essential oils from hair and dries it out, which is why conditioner is used afterwards. Since my goal is to thicken my naturally thin hair, letting my natural hair oils do their thing instead of stripping them off couldn't hurt! ;) With proper rinsing my hair looks better and is more manageable than it would if I used shampoo to begin with. Maybe a no-shampoo approach would help stop some forms of hairloss? I've read something about it on the men's long-hair hyperboard before but can't remember for certain when.

Just my thoughts!

People are constantly talking about "essential oils" in hair and skin, and constantly talking about how they think "stripping" them off with soap or shampoo is so bad. I just HATE that ridiculous word! :)

Here's an excerpt from "Studies on the Effect of Shampoos on Scalp Lipids and Bacteria", A.M. Kligman, K.J. McGinley, and J.J. Leyden, from the book Hair Research (Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 1981), who found that even defatting the scalp and hair with ETHER, for God's sake, didn't do any damage to hair:

...If our explanation is correct, the sequestration of sebum between cuticle cells is a biologically sound device to assure that there will always be a small amount of lipid to protect the fiber from environmental assaults, including highly efficient shampoos. There would appear to be little ground for fearing that the surfactants will do their job too well, leaving the hair "squeaky clean." The formulator does not need to worry that he may be creating surfactant systems that remove more oil than soil. In our studies, even after the two cycle ether extraction of the scalp, the hair was neither dry nor squeeky. Indeed, it was suprisingly pleasing with a high lustre and an agreeable feel.

I usually shampoo once a day.

If I have worked out and sweated a lot, on that particular day, I may shampoo twice.
