I don't think it does. Most minoxidil-studies I've seen were conducted with the men being on minoxidil-alone, and not on a DHT-inhibitor on top of it. Naturally, then, your hair counts will eventually get worse even if you had an initial growth spurt that was offsetting the losses elsewhere, because the fundamental balding process hasn't been stopped.

If you have any studies you can link that show something else, though (like studies conducted on men using both minoxidil and finasteride), then I'd like to read them too!

I remember reading that minoxidil growth can last a long time. It said something like these guys were still above baseline 5 years later. Probably reach baseline after a decade. Now add in finasteride and it could be a lot longer. Thing is with minoxidil, some people respond really well and this is more directed at them. It doesn't work for some people at all.

Not sure, I used to have some itching after I had applied minoxidil, when I started it last year. Especially during the summer time when it was hot to begin with. I think I was occassionally scratching my head after my pre-going-to-bed -applications of minoxidil, up to like 4-5 months of using the stuff, but I never really had truly serious itching. After that, though, I don't remember ever having any itchiness. (Even now when it's the summer in here again). Results-wise I've had great results, for reference.

I'm currently just on 1.25, restarted minoxidil tonight after noticing that I'm still going backwards.

No, it doesn't. Minoxidil will work for as long as you use it, that is if you respond to the medication. I've been using topical Minoxidil since 2011 and the medication still works quite well for me actually.
