Whole scalp at once is not the best way if you want a perfect positioning. But if you want to do the whole scalp at once, put the glue/tape on, then spray your scalp and the underside of your piece with a light mist of isopropyl alcohol, then put it on. The alcohol delays the gripping of the adhesive for a few seconds, and allows you to move the piece around and smooth out any wrinkles. It quickly boils off and doesn't harm the bond. You can buy the mist spray bottles at DIY shops. People use them for watering plants.
