What do you mean? It stops hair loss...

At NW3! Hahahaha....

Are u fuckin kiddin me?

I take this risks just to maintain a pedo hairline? Then i can just keep poping pumpkin seed oil which only works at the vertex too but has no sides

Ffs

How retarded are these companies? When u do studies u have to check the front and the vertex

What about duta?

Hey, Finasteride is old news - it's no miracle. Just a 20 year old drug with a pretty crappy ratio of benefits to side effects. I kept losing into NW3 territory while also developing gynecomastia on it. Great results /s.

dutasteride is for people who who have tried everything else and failed. I would never be on that long-term. It may work better but I just don't think it's worth it, it messes up your brain even more by inhibiting both types of 5-AR.

Companies are retarded indeed. Just look at the general theme of the cutting edge section. 5 years, canceled, clinical trials, investor hype, results on mice, rinse and repeat. Welcome to hair loss.

I should be pissed off too considering I took the drug for 14 months withminor maintenance along with some continued thinning.

My brother really benefited from propecia so I can't say it doesn't do sh*t... he had amazing results and has great hair now at 30 (8 years on treatment)

I can't read the article bc it's in german so can you explain why would fina accelerate frontal hair loss?? I'm asking because i'm on it (also on minoxidil) and been losing a lot of density in the front. Never thought it could be finasteride but it was really odd how i just had a minor recession with no problems of density (a lot of shedding) and 9 months later I can see my scalp (frontal part) in harsh light! I thought it was minoxidil but perhaps i was wrong.. Is there a logical reason on why would finasteride do this?

Rather duta for 10 years than RU for one week.

You're probably nonresponder to finasteride. Go check your blood and DHT levels to see what's going on below the surface. How old are you? Is your hairloss aggressive?

I'm 26! It wasn't aggressive.. The main reason I went to the derm was because my head started to itch and I couldn't get rid of it.. She said I had male pattern baldness and prescribed me fina + minoxidil + shampoo to help with the itch! At that time i was a solid NW1, max NW1.5.. I never thought i was balding bc i didn't see much change through the years and since i developed a little patch with less hair near the ear i thought it was stress or something..

So after like 2 weeks of starting the treatment i started losing more hair than usual and at month 3 had a huge shed. I thought it was the big shed everyone talks about, but i never stopped shedding even when it slowed down. Then at month 5 or 6 had another big one and now Im having another one. It's awful! The worst part is that I'm not recovering from these losses! Oh and i also developed a nasty dermatitis at month 3 that i am only now managing to keep under control..

I'm like a NW2 (or NW2.5) which isn't bad at all, what really brings me down is the diffusion I got! It feels like yesterday I could put wax or be able to just take a shower i leave the house with the hair slightly wet with no worries in the world... Now i have to constantly see if the most diffuse parts are showing the scalp or not... it sucks!

Wow. That's a really fucked up perspective. Lemme guess why, because Dutasteride is an FDA-approved medication (not for hair loss though)?

You'd rather take a drug that fucks up your entire neurochemistry and inhibits all forms of 5-AR system-wide up to 90% than apply a topical with a 2 hour half-life that probably less people have had side effects from than with Finasteride? Legit.

On the positive side i did get a lot of vellus hairs in the temple area so I guess i did respond somewhat to minoxidil?? I don't know if i should quit fina or jump to duta!!

It's a bunch of idiots and assholes that say Finasteride stops hair loss. TWENTY years and how many studies do we have on it? seriously. It was found to work in some people so now the industry is making millions and millions just handing it out to people.

Did the itch stop?

Maybe sth else cause the shedding?

Nah, the itch is still here..
Maybe but I don't know bro, i don't really have a way of knowing whats causing it right?

I've tried reducing the minoxidil to one a day for about month and then 5 days without it while i was trying to treat my dermatitis (which it worked). But the shedding didn't slow down, so i don't think minoxidil is causing it.

Maybe what's happening to me is what happened to @buckthorn and other members here? But how can i know?? Only by stopping fina in hopes it slows down or going on stronger AR to see if it accelerates more?

Maybe i'm a non responder to fina, and minoxidil isn't strong enough to stop my hair loss and by coincidence i started to go bald aggressively after starting the treatment? Sure, but i waited 4 months from noticing the itch to going to the derm and in that time I was just losing maybe 10 hairs in the shower and 1 or 2 every now and then when i passed my hand through my hair or scratched my head. Nothing special, but in these past 9 months all hair broke loose. lol its crazy!!

Or maybe i have some kind of Telogen Effluvium and male pattern baldness since i did have a bad breakup a few months before the itch and i did lose 15 pounds this summer in like 2 months... But who knows...

Rubbing a chemical with not too many studies on it from China (which could be mixed with God knows what) isn't exactly ideal either.

I would rather take dutasteride than RU personally.

Go check your serum DHT levels to know for sure if finasteride is working on your 5ar enzymes. I had really bad breakup too and my startup failed last summer so my hair take a big hit from stress ( I f*cking hope it's stress! ), especially itch came back which I really hate. Sometimes it's not the best idea to start everything at once because you do not know what works and what not.

@itsjustsimon you're absolutely right! I should've tried one of them first but at the time i didn't quite know what minoxidil and finasteride were and the derm told to use both to get the max benefits. She said since i was in the very early stages of male pattern baldness i was going to be fine..
Next week i have an appointment and will ask for that blood work. Thanks!

Yeah the itch is the worst part for me! I had a friend who had to shave is hair because it kept falling due to stress from work but after 6-12 months (can't remember) it grew back just like before, so yeah stress can mess your hair pretty bad... I'm changing to a job that hopefully is less stressful so even if my hair doesn't get better at least i get some peace of mind!
