Hi, first day on this site so apologies if this isn't in the correct discussion.

OK my hairloss started when I was 14 years old, I noticed alot of hairs coming out when showering and geling my hair. I had such thick hair and the hair loss was at a very slow rate that it didn't really bother my apart from the unnecessary teenage paranoia, however I'm 19 years old now and 6 months ago i still had a notably very thick head of hair albeit not as thick as it used to be but seriously i can't emphasise how thick my hair used to be, hence why it's taken so long for physical signs to show. Now I'm 19 years old and have just gone through the most insecure summer ever (very dramatic i know haha) but this summer i started with a "full" head of hair and the shedding was incredible, and nobody believes me at how bad it was, when i washed my hair my hands would literally be covered in hair, as it was when gelling my hair, When I would be working on my laptop after 30 mins there were be multiple hairs on there. I'm a very optimistic person and always refused to believe it was as bad as the shedding would appear, but I am a very social person and on nights out people are always taking pictures, let's just say cameras and their flashes don't like thinning hair, and i definetely don't like the pictures. I have been to the 4 different doctors and all were as useless as the other, one told me blunt to except it, whilst mocking me for be insecure (no guesses he was in his 50's and had a full head of hair), one told me it's male pattern baldness and there is nothing to do, probably should of listened to them to but i refusd to except it I went to two other doctors and after reading up on treatments I questioned them about rogaine, minoxidil etc and they all just laughed it off and handed me a useless coaltar shampoo. Regular doctors just don't care/know which is understable as hairloss is the least serious out of their patients. But I have just got over teenage acne and now my hair is thinning badly, I've always been a confident lad, and now i hate looking in the mirror and hate being out in daytime when the sun shines through to my scalp.

Please please someone help me, I have buzzed my hair down to a 4/5 now ( the numbers have worn off my trimmers so i don't know which haha). My Dad went bald albeit not until well into his 30's. My brother who is mid 20's has lost hair to but only receding temples, not diffuse thinnings over the whole head. Sorry I know this is dragging on but also in my donor area around the sides of my head I have noticable bald spots, where I thought hair stays for life! Again please somebody help me, I wouldn't mind losing hair when i'm in my 30's but i'm 19 years old and don't want to become even more insecure it is changing me as a person more than i thought anything could.

Many Thanks and sorry for the rambling.

I think you should go see a dermatologist who can properly diagnose what type of hairloss you are experiencing and perhaps look for one that specializes in male pattern baldness. It sounds like the other docs you went to see are douche bags. Anyways, I know you are probably really anxious to get started on something but try and find someone who can give you more information than just telling you to accept it. The good news is you came to the right place and there are many people on here who have experienced what you are going through and who can help you through your situation. Anyways, don't be afraid to ask questions. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice. How would I get to a dermatologist??? Would that involve going back to the same doctor that has told me to p*ss off twice now haha? It's just so thrustrating people trying to keep you happy by denying the blatent thinning that is happening, it just makes it worse when you discover it yourself in the mirror at a latter date grrr! I want to shave it off but my hair line has receded over the initial curve of my skull and my forehead is as big as a mountain when i pull my hair back, also if it is quite thin on top will it my patchy if i do a no.1 all over??? there are no major bald spots on the top of my head just really thin hair now. So i'm naive as to how blunt the shaving will turn out to be!

Are you in any way related to the original Gunner, and if so, do you sometimes perform little dances when you apply your Rogaine?

You would likely have to be refered to a dermatologist by your family doctor or whoever you deal with. If the Doctor you are seeing is such an arse then go to someone else and get them to refer you. If your hairloss is bothering you that much I would definately suggest shaving your head. It made a big difference for me when I started doing it. No more looking in the mirror to see how the hair looks and no more f'n around with gels etc. It also makes applying the foam waaay easier.
