Help! 1+ Years On finasteride - Excessive Hair Loss/chronic Telogen Effluvium, Itch, Quit It?

finasteride inhibits 5AR, not only testosterone passes into 5hydr dihydrotestosterone but progesterone, the hormone of all hormones. Several metabolites pass through 5AR. And you inhibit it !!!!

Care to elaborate? It completely blocks progesterone?

I was doing a lot of things like PRP and dermarolling/stamping so I was not sure if finasteride was the culprit but now I am sure of it along with the fact people kept saying to give more time for this sh*t drug to work.

Posting pics helps others better understand and (self)evaluate. So maybe u should disregard trolling and help others?

Not to get sidetrack by mofos but those of you getting Telogen Effluvium by finasteride...irishpride86 who had great success and had Telogen Effluvium from finasteride and left due to trolls but he came back. He went back on finasteride so maybe Telogen Effluvium is a phase but he is also using minoxidil and ru along with finasteride. I’m still using finasteride just once a week and hardly sheds to severe Telogen Effluvium that I once had.

yes, because 5ar is inhibited, progesterone will not convert to hydroxyprogesterone, respectively. You can check this information. Type progesterone finasteride. There are studies. Otherwise, finasteride would give excellent results, 5ar it inhibits and therefore progesterone will not turn into hydroxyprogesterone ..

Any advice from those who been on finasteride 1+ years is appreciated.

Started finasteride: Late April 2018 (14+ Months Usage), Prior to finasteride never experienced the symptoms listed below.

finasteride totally f'd up my decent head full of hair (slow gradually diffuse thinning runs in family):

- I am worst than my baseline (lost over 60% density on top)
- Burning sensation/itching scalp ultimately where I'm losing hair (top and esp. vortex is severely thinning)
- Miniaturizing and chronic Telogen Effluvium (shed hairs has bulb at end) and now short strands also falling out too.

Should I keep up on this drug which could makes matter worst or quit???

I’m pretty positive I now have chronic telogen effluvium. Thinking about getting back on finasteride once/week as well. Has using it once/week had a positive effective on you?

Hell nah. I regret touching that sh.. drug finasteride. Still got chronic Telogen Effluvium. If I never touched finasteride I would still have very slow progression diffusion like both side of my fam. It gave me Telogen Effluvium and accelerated diffusion. I urge many to try other things and use finasteride as your last resort.
Never in my life i ever had crazy shedding until i got on fecking finasteride

Im in the same boat here tried finasteride alsmost a year and the shedding got insane, been losing half of hair density at least also losing hair side and back. Basically the area that was not losing hair and that are not supposed to be touch by mbp got completely rekt. Also had weird side effect such as a dramatic increase in libido which can be a rise in testosterone from what i've read , also burning and itch pain,being more angry and nervous. Had 2 dramatic event one last year and one this year that threw my anxiety level to the roof . That gave me telogen efluvium for sure when i see the speed rate of my hairloss + male pattern baldness equals like 70% hair density lost in not even 2 years . In the end i think its my fault to have exclude other possibility of hair loss but i was like hey im taking finasteride it should at least stop it .

Sorry if that was too long i've not even said everything to avoid the story telling but, had to share my experience with you guys feels good .
