I found something very interesting in a clinical trial about Sphinganine and Finasteride.
The enzyme 5-α-reductase directly causes hair loss in both
males and females. Thus, to determine whether sphinganine has an inhibitory potential toward 5-α-reductase type I, IC50 values were determined in a cell-free assay using cell homogenates isolated from stably transfected human embryonic kidney cells. The IC50 for sphinganine, determined in two independent experiments, 6.5±0.33 and 6.8±0.1 μM, while the control finasteride showed an IC50 of 0.42±0.02 μM. The results indicate that sphinganine is a suitable ingredient to inhibit 5-α-reductase and thus prevent the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT).
Now, i return to the tittle and the question, has anyone ever tried Sphinganine?
