Hey guys
I am hairy. Very hairy. You name it and I have thick long hair on it. It is dark, black and not curly. So is my head hair. But the hair on my head is thinning. In 3 years I will surely look like a standard Norwood 3. I am 28.

I see people waiting for hair cloning and all that. My questions is :

Since I have virtually an infinite amount of donor hair, does this mean I have a good reason to contemplate a surgery and get an extra dense packing. I also have thick healthy and dense head hair on the back and on the sides.

I think a surgery (for me) would only be worth it if i can achieve thickness and natural look. again, since i have an huge amount of donor hair, isn't it possible ?

Depending on what your hairloss potential is for a lifetime. will depend if you have enough donor to go around. You mentioned BH, but that is very expensive, unless it is not an issue for you.

What hairloss meds are you on right now and what Norwood class are you in. What is your family history of male pattern baldness?

About norwood scale: I am on the lower bound of 3. I do not have any bald areas yet.

About family history: mom side , complete balds ( by the age of 20) I am 27. My dad side. Bald on the top and that s it.

About donor area : is a back and chest and legs FULL of hair enough ? :)

About the money: I am planning to do many little surgeries, I know it s not optimal. But like this I will never have a huge change nor do I have to pay so much mone in the begining.

Besides I am thinking of doing FUE, but I am thinking of BHT in worst case scenario if I bald more than expected.

Thank you for your opinions..please !!

Why think negative Save what you have with propecia and think about the rest when you get there. Even with surgery you will need meds. I woulld not think about a BHT just yet.

You never mentioned what hairloss meds you are on or if you are on any meds. Have you tried them?

i got this from wikpedia regarding BHT http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hair_transplantation

An extension of the FUE procedure is BHT, body hair transplantation (BHT). A select group of surgeons are now successfully transplanting body hair to the head. In some cases, the body hair can take on many characteristics of head hair. However, the procedure is still in its infancy, and while there have been successful cases, more completed results are needed to give a better assessment. At this stage the hair transplant community sees body hair as a good "filler" between scalp hairs, and as an additional donor source when patients have run out of scalp hair to transplant.

Lately some of the initial results of mega session BHT have started coming in. Basically it seems that yield is directly related to the quality of the extracted hair and the trauma it has received. Initial results seem to show that the time frame of removing a body hair and re implanting it to the scalp is critical. The less the graft is out of the body the better the results. Thus it seems that the new extraction protocols should be modified to minimize this critical time frame. While scalp grafts can survive out of the body for many hours the time frame for Body Hair is dramatically less. BH grafts that are thin and fragile (eg. arm and thighs) have dramatically less yield than robust hairs (eg. chest). Another thing to note about BH is that if DHT inhibiting drugs are used (eg. Finasteride or Dutraside) these drugs could work against the success of BHT. The same drugs that are very successful in stopping or reversing male pattern baldness have a negative effect on body hair.

HOPE THAT HELPS
