hair transplantation vs hair color

i was originally a class 5 + on the baldness scale befure i had my 5 transplant procedures. the results are o.k. considering i was an advanced class 5+. but even still under bright light especially those vapor lamps like in stores you can see some scalp here & there depending where & the angle the light shines. my hair is dark brown & obviously there's lots of contrast between the dark hair & light scalp which makes the scalp show more. i was wondering if i have my hair stylist make my hair light blonde, wouldn't that cut down on the contrast & make the scalp less noticible & resulting in a thicker look? i thought i remember my transplant surgeons saying something about this a long time ago before my very first procedure. has anybody else been through this & changed their hair to a lighter color? if so did it really make a difference? pics?

Absolutely it makes a visual difference when you narrow the contrast between your hair and scalp. I have suggested this at times when the situation deems right. Most guys and some women do not want to change their hair color. A fair amount of guys don't want to color their hair at all including the grey. So if you are open to it, why not try it?

Some folks use a scalp color makeup called Dermatch which visually works okay if you have a fair amount of hair. You can do a search on other products like Toppik which does not color the scalp but utilizes negatively charged protein fibers that cling to your hair when it's applied. It increases the hair shaft diameter visually speaking, so in essence you are attaining more coverage of the scalp. The drawback? The products can be messy and/or gets on the sink and surrounding areas. Most can be washed right out with shampoos.

Maybe try some experimenting and see what works best for you. You could potentially lighten your hair color and also lightly apply some Toppik and you would be amazed at the illusion one can create. Good luck! :wink:

ya i presently use toppik & it's great! it looks so natural, but it's sooo messy. i just thought if i let my hair stylist just color my hair light blonde, i wouldn't have to deal with the messy toppik anymore. we'll see what i decide to do.....
