Hey guys

I'm a diffused thinner probs norwood 6. I do get away with hair fibres! Does it good job.

Anyway I'm due a hair transplant I a couple of weeks (not booked it yet) . But I won't get the time again for another couple of years if I don't do it now at the age 44.

I haven't started finasteride. Would it be a bad idea to go ahead with it ? I'm worried about shock loss may destroy my native hair especially top back. I rely on them for hair fibres. .

It's my sisters wedding in 6 months time after the hair transplant. Is it too much of a gamble for the hair transplant?

Shall I postpone the hair transplant for a year or so as I haven't started the finasterid or take the plunge?

I can start fina about 10 days pre hair transplant.

What do you reckon ?

You should have started finasteride before you booked a hair transplant but now is better than never. If you respond well you can recover a meaningful amount of hair. As LosingBattle said get on minoxidil too, it's the best growth stimulant we got. A transplant combined with finasteride, min and a little bit of luck could literally restore your hair almost completely. Dont let the fear mongering get to you, act while you still can.

I've had some time finally in my life to get it done . I've always wore a cap so no one seen my extremely thin hair lol. I always put hair fibres and it does a nice concealment.

I can re arrange the transplant to novemember if I should have ideally taken the fina.

Do you think I should don't whilst I got the chance or just prospoone it to end of year and get on meds now?

I'm so scared because I have a wedding to attend in about 6 months. I don't want to end up with a shock loss and end up losing the little scaffolding (diffused hair) at rhe top back of my head which I need for the fibres.

Honestly, if you have a wedding in 6 months I would post-pone the transplant if you can and get on medication immediately. For most people it takes AT LEAST 6 months for the results to begin to make a cosmetic difference. The smart move would be to get on meds now and see what you can recover, that means you will use less grafts and have a larger donor supply for later procedures if you're not satisfied with the first transplant.

Thanks so much I really needed to hear that.

What meds shall I get on?
Minoxidil like kirkland
Finasteride (0.5mg EOD to mitigate sides)?
Anything else ?
