Hair thinning all over my head

Well my hair seems to be thinning all over my head. Everywhere above my ears, including my sideburns, are thinning like crazy. I also have been losing eyebrow hair, and my eyebrows are turning blonde in some areas. I have been on propecia for about 4 months, and things have only gotten worse. 2 weeks ago I dropped down to .25 mg because of gyno issues, but now I just feel doomed to go bald soon. I don't know, this really sucks. My hair that is thinning is also losing its color, and you can see all these blonde hairs on my head, as my hair is naturally brown.

0,25 is pretty low, try raise up to 0,5.

In a few months, ad minoxidil to it.

Minoxidil is great on its own, and combined, the two of them can have a synergetic effect (1+1=3), so theres still (much) hope.

I was thinning all over as well, and had excellerated hair loss for about 3 months when I started finasteride, then it stabilized and with the months passing, it improved a bit. So I think your head is just getting rid of the weak hairs that would have fallen out in the near future anyway. But maybe its a shedding and you will get a lot of more strong hairs back.

You should see a dermatologist. If you're losing hair all over your head and losing your eyebrows, you may have a different form of alopecia.

I have a friend who has AU. It started in patches, like alopecia areata. I think AT and AU always start as areata, both being progressions of areata, with AU being the most extreme, but I could be wrong (not a doctor).
What did he say about the minor thinning? male pattern baldness?
How did you first notice the problem?

I first noticed that the cowlick on the back of my head seemed to be bigger, then I went to get my hair cut and my hairdresser said he thought my hair was thinning. I freaked out and three months later I went on propecia. I have been on propecia for about 4 months, recently dropped to .25 mg because of gyno issues (i think) and my hair has never looked worse. It is so thin and lifeless, but still not noticalbe that I am balding unless its wet. Maybe its a shed, but they why are the sides of my head so thin? I also just added 2% nizoral about a month ago. I dont know, I am recently trying to up my dosage to .5 mg and seeing if i dont get gyno issues. I am taking .25mg in the morning and at night. I have always wondered about the timing of my hair loss. Last summer my hair was fine, then I started working out a lot, I mean heavy lifting, I got on a 5000 calorie a day diet, and I was taking supplements (not steroids). Then I start to notice thinning, weird? Both doctors I went to said I only had slight thinning at the back of my head, but I know it is worse than that.

You're not suppose to be taking .25mg of Propecia in morning and at night, you're only supposed to take it once a day, results won't come quicker if you keep doing what you are doing. If you want, just take .5mg a day.

I know im not "supposed" to, but do you think it can be bad for me. I figured that it would give me all day coverage, while not raising my estrogen levels too much at one time.

Yes and save yourself the hassle, just take .5 a day and work your way up to 1mg.

the effects of finasteride are suppose to have an affect for 24 hours in the bloodstream

i agree with Obsidian, just take once a day either .5,.25,1,1.25 mg what ever you chose

the effects should last at least 24 hours

how bad was your gyno?

My gyno issue was that I have more fat in the chest area, and more that .25 mg makes it feel really sensitive in the nipple area. I dont know, it all sucks.

YouKnow have you made any tests?

I don't think that thinning on the sides is normal.
I ve read lots of Dr Rassman's posts on baldingblog and he exclaims the thinning on the sides is not associated with male pattern baldness. I am on the same boat. My hair are thinning on the sides slowly and I just feel that finasteride doesn't work.I am also applying rogaine 5% there for two months now but no difference.
I just wonder if there is any other reason besides male pattern baldness that cause my hairloss. I made thyroid tests but they appeared normal.
