Hair Piece Washing Advice - More Detectable

Hi Guys

I purchased a hair piece about 4 months ago. I have only worn it about a dozen times since then. I have used gel on it a couple of times but mostly bryl cream. The hair piece seems in pretty good condition and clean.

However I was wondering what affect will washing have on it? The actual piece is quite thick density. I was hoping washing it would make it appear thinner or less dense and hopefully more realistic as I have had a few stares from people who detected it.

Anyone have any experience with how washing a hair piece will affect it. Will it lose its orginal style and become more detectable?
I have ordered another hairpiece which I will get in 2 months. So dont want to risk doing anything drastic to my existing one encase it get completely messed up in after being washed.

Thanks

It shouldn't have any effect on its density. You can try to reduce the appearance of density by slicking the hair down, although it sounds like you have already tried that with Brylcreem. If that doesn't work, and it is a lace piece, you can remove hair by soaking the piece and carefully plucking out some the hairs (rather a laborious exercise if the whole piece is too dense) or by applying dots of hair remover selectively to the underside of the base.

Before you do anything, why don't you post a picture so we can see what you are working with? Obviously, block out your facial features if you prefer.
