hello everyone,

i posted back in may about how i shaved my head with a #1 guard and my hairloss looked worse. with hair i am a nw3, and with the headshave i looked like a nw5. well, my hair has grown back except for in my balding crown. i used to have enough hair there prior to the headshave to where i could comb it and look a little less thinning. now the hair is barely growing back on the top. is the hair growth in thinning regions THIS much slower or did the headshave play a part in further thinning? thanks to everyone who reads/replies!

the head shave played no part unless the clipper yanked out the roots but that would have hurt so bad as it went across your head you would have known.

When I tried cutting my hair very short (not a complete shave but close) it took ages to grow back.

No way does cutting your hair affect it's growth, I think it might just be as it has been exposed all of a sudden and you REALLY want it back it seems slower to regrow than normal.

i gotta say to anyone that wants to shave..do not do it!!! it's been nearly 4 months and my hair is not the same as it was. it has not grown back in my thinning areas nearly as thick as before.

The head shave has played no part in your hair not growing back in the crown area. Cutting your hair short does not affect the growth of your hair.

Since that area of your scalp does not have a lot of hair, I think you would like it to fill up quickly and you are paying very close attention to it. This is causing you to believe that hair is not growing back in that area, but what is happening is that the hair is not growing back at a rate that will cover the bald spot quickly.

The bald spot is going to get covered up but it is going to take a little time.

When you shaved your head you removed all the hair that was in the telogen phase at once which otherwise would have fallen out over a period of 90 days. This may account for the thinner appearance and the fact that you have male pattern baldness which is causing the new hair to come in weaker.

Maybe you just lost more hair while it was shaved so short?
I recently decided to go for the slick look, myself, and have wondered what to expect if I decide to grow it back.
