Hair Loss Specialist Said It Was Not Balding But I’m Not So Sure (18 Yo)

I’m just wondering if these pics look like a balding hairline. I’m 18 years old and I recently saw a hair loss specialist who did some hair magnifying thing and said my hair is just maturing but I’m not so sure. My friends and family also say it looks fine but I’m still concerned. I also have a big forehead and a widows peak so keep that in mind. I’m more concerned about the left side (my right) then the other. I don’t find hair on my pillow and I don’t seem to have a bald spot either. Any response helps! Thanks!

Anyway, if you are worried (You are the best to know if youre balding), go finasteride, don't start minoxidyl. Finasteride will make your hair stabilized, if you have Side effect stop it

Looks like you are a little bit. I'd say two things 1. don't go back to that doctor he is a moron 2. ask about a prescription for finasteride as soon as possible and start minoxidil. The earlier you start treating hair loss the more hair you will keep.

Wet hair pics definitely looks like both Temple's are thinning. Also some of your widows peak. If I were you I would jump on finasteride before it gets worse. You could possibly reverse some of the thinning there. Best of luck.

Ok. In which of the two pictures did you see thinning. I’m just curious because it seems as if all wet hair pics you can call something out because it’s not how your hair naturally looks. But it could definitely could be signs of thinning. I just want to be positive before I take a drug like finasteride that could possibly f*** up my life.

Are the men in your family bald or balding? That's the first question that comes to mind.

Moms dad started balding young but I don’t know exactly when. Dads dad is bald but he didn’t start till his 50s. My dad has good hair but just started balding in his 50s. I have two cousins in there 30s and one is balding and the other isn’t. So it’s kinda a mixed bag. Are there certain family members that are more likely to influence your genetics for hair loss?

Just start Finasteride, don't start MInoxidyl yet, if you wanna have some more gains start minoxidil but i wouldn't recommand if you re happy with your current hairline

That’s not a bad idea. I’ve never seen any hair in the shower or on my pillow or any of that

You’re fine man. You aren’t even in mature hairline terrritory. Take pictures every 3 months or so. If there’s any change or you start shedding like a dog, go see a dermatologist. There is no sense in using any of these medications until you are sure it’s truly necessary.9

It looks like your temples are just slightly starting to recede. It don't necessarily blame your doctor because your hair looks good dry but you can definitely tell when its wet. Def recommend getting on finasteride now so that you can keep what you have because you still have a lot of hair

Are you sure I should jump on finasteride without seeing if it actually recedes. It seems everyones hair looks like it’s balding when it’s wet. Im conflicted because the majority of people on here say to give it time before I jump on a pill like finasteride.

The most common complaint amongst hair loss sufferers is not acting sooner. Just monitor it closely, take pics every few months and compare.

By monitor and take pictures every few months do mean I should take the pill while I’m doing this or see if it actually recedes first?

I have learned most of these dudes on here are nuts! Don’t listen to them. You’re fine!!
If at some point people start telling you you’re balding, like real life humans in real life, not these knuckleheads, then you’re probably balding. You can then do something about it. You’re hair looks like biebs 2012 - enjoy it!
