hi all, im 30 this year and im experiencing hair loss since october last year. In the beginning, my hair started to fall alot. My scalp did not experience any pimple-like bumps, itchiness or scales at first. It only started early this year. One thing i feel weird about is since my hair loss is triggered by seborrheic dermatitis, why did i experience hair loss first before my scalp developed the symptoms. Why is it not the other way round?

Last year, i went to hair treatment centres but without any improvements at all. This year, when i started experiencing pimple-like bumps, itchiness and scales on my scalp, i decided to go to visit a dermatologist and she said that what i have is seborrheic dermatitis. she did several blood tests for me and culture swap on my scalp. All tests came out ok. Culture swap results shown no pathogen which i dont know what it means. The dermatologist said that my SD is a mild case so she prescribed me with an antifungal shampoo called Stieprox and a normal shampoo (ingredients include aqua, tea tree oil, aloe vera extract, lavender oil & sea salt), im using the antifungal shampoo on alternate days. She also prescribed a gel for me to apply on the "pimples" and a scalp sebum regulator spray. I started using those prescriptions on May 21. Its exactly a month now and there are no improvements yet. Is it too early to see any results? I am actually contemplating to change my antifungal shampoo to Nizoral as i read that most pple find it effective. should i change or should i stick to my current one? will there be any side effects for nizoral? Is it better to wash your hair once a day or twice? Now i only wash once a day.

Im so scared of washing my hair and brushing my hair now as alot of hair will fall off. Im experiencing ard 50-60 strands of hair loss everytime i shampoo, condition, towel dry & brush my hair. Now i dont even dare to blow dry my hair.
Now i have a bald patch (like an obvious parting) behind my head. Im feeling so down. This has been affecting my mood lately and now i just want to hide at home away from all the pple i know. Im really scared that i will grow bald soon. I've tried the prescriptions from Doctor and eliminating sugar and gluten from my diet. Increasing vege and fruits intake. But there are still no improvements. Im really losing hope here and im praying everyday hoping that my hair will stop falling.

what can i do now??? i really have no idea..... :(

I know what your going through. I believe I MAY have this (also diagnosed with Hypothyroidism) and the only thing that helps clear out the build up and stops hair fall almost completely is using Dr Bronners liquid soap as shampoo and Apple cider vinegar mixed with water as a conditioner/rinse. My hair fall almost completely stops with in a few days but I always have to quit because my scalp just seems to want to hold that smell of ACV,. It's not really strong but if I sweat a little or there is wind I can smell it faintly although my fiance' says it doesn't bother him a bit. I also put 100% aloe on my scalp a few times per week right after the bronners and acv rinse and this helps calm and help with any inflammation. I dont know how this would work for anyone else but I have a very oily scalp, with dandruff(not the flaky kind but it gets hard and have to pick it off my scalp :( ) itching and hair fall it has worked great for me. Dr's. are not going to mention the use of anything natural, but this has worked for me and you really don't have much to lose at this point.
Believe me I know what you are feeling I havent been able to wear my hair down now in a couple years, it makes me so self conscious.

I am going through SD and severe hair fall with scalp pain. The specialist prescribed me with Novasone steroid and that didn't help. Has your pain gone down? I have started using onion juice and the scalp has started feeling better with it. any improvement with yours and has anything helped you?

Hi Ruger, I am new to the forum. I just wondered if you could tell me which type of Dr Bronner's liquid soap you are using to treat your scalp? I have been using prescription ketoconazole and selenium sulfide shampoos, neither of which seem to help. I would be very grateful if you could let me know which 'flavour' you are using - rosemary, tea tree etc? Many thanks and kind regards, Kate

I agree with Ruger. Apple Cider Vinegar ended a decade long battle with SD. I had constant unrelenting itch, redness, inflammation, weeping, and hairloss. I used full strength ACV (applying with a dropper and fully saturating all of my scalp), and let it sit for at least 30min. You will smell like a salad for the next few days anytime you sweat or get wet, but it's so worth it! Now, my years of anguish are only a memory. I maintain by applying anytime I feel a faint itch (usually once a month - or less).

Dandruff mostly is the result of a dry scalp, or a skin condition called seborrheic dermatitis. It could also be caused by eczema, psoriasis, or, very commonly, an overgrowth of a yeast like fungus called malassezia.. Drugstore remedies might include shampoos with zinc pyrithione, which targets fungus and bacteria; ketoconazole, which also fights fungus; and salicylic acid, which loosens flakes so they can be washed away.
The natural remedies are :
1.Aspirin : crush 2 aspirins and mix it with shampoo
2.Tea tree oil : Add few drops of this into your shampoo
3.Baking soda : After wetting your hair, rub your scalp with a handful of Baking soda and then rinse it off with shampoo
4.Apple cider vinegar : Mix a quarter cup of apple cider vinegar with a quarter cup water in a spray bottle and spritz on your scalp. Wrap your head in a towel and let sit for 15 minutes to an hour and then wash your hair. Repeat for 2 weeks
5.Mouthwash : Wash your hair with a regular shampoo then rinse it off with a regular shampoo.Follow up with your regular conditioner.
6.Coconut Oil :
Before showering, massage 3-5 tablespoons of coconut oil onto your scalp and let it sit for about an hour and then shampoo normally
7.Lemon :
Massage 2 tbsp lemon juice onto your scalp and then rinse with water. Then stir 1 teaspoon lemon juice onto 1 cup water and rinse your hair with it.
8.Salt :
Apply some salt onto your dry scalp ,and then give your scalp a good massage with it. Then rinse off the dry flaky skin with shampoo.
9.Aloe vera :
Massage Aloe vera on your scalp before shampooing. The cooling effect of Aloe vera will provide relief from the itching
10.Garlic :
Crush garlic and apply to your scalp. To eliminate the potent smell , mix crushed garlic with
11.Olive oil :
Massage about 4 drops of olive oil on your scalp and cover it with a shower cap overnight . Follow regular shampoo routine in the morning.

I have been dealing with hair loss for awhile and sometime it feels like a never ending uphill battle. I found this girls videos and they help me so much. Here's a video she made showing how to style hair when thin - i'm excited to try this so thought i'd share. Good luck to you all.
