hey guys I posted a thread a few weeks back about my hairline but I decided to take pictures after a shower and my hair is looking pretty thin when wet but fine dry, wondering if it looks like I'm diffusing or not. When I run my hand through my hair I can usually get a hair or two and my scalp itches, hair also does seem thinner to me but it could be in my head. Went to a derm a few weeks ago who told me it didn't look like I was thinning and just assumed my hair loss was still from accutane which I stopped in January but he hardly looked at my hair.

1st pic is fresh out of shower
2nd pic is combed back
3rd pic is combed forward
4th pic is lightly toweled
5th pic is completely dry

Sorry if I'm being paranoid, just trying to catch it early if it is happening. I'm 20 years old

People with no hairloss can look like their thinning when the hair is wet. You have to make judgements on dry hair. From the 5th picture, it looks like you have a deep/wide whirl, but that's about it.

Either two possible scenarios, you have fine hair with below average density with no miniaturization, or you have diffuse thinning and fine hair. Best person to find out from would be a hair transplant doctor who can access your situation.

First row, second picture, hair is slicked back. I see hair and I see a very big bald spot. Did you always had that bald spot? If not, then I guess you have the same diffused pattern that I had (which indicates male pattern baldness with zero doubt).

Go to a Doctor.

Your hair still looks great, but the slicked back picture is classic diffuse pattern.

Thanks for the opinions, I've always had fine hair, a large swirl, and a part that went the length of my head so I was hoping that was the scalp showing in the slicked back photo but it could easily be diffuse thinning instead, I've never really taken pictures before so I don't have anything to compare it to. I'll try to find a new derm that will actually look for miniaturization but I might not be able to for a few months, hopefully won't lose too much ground.

Also worried about getting on finasteride at this age, not because of sides but because my beard isn't fully in yet and I feel like I might be still have a need for dht at this age to deepen my voice a bit more and stuff. Could I get away with just minoxidil and nizoral for a year or two without much loss?
