How bad is this for a 22 year old and what should i do about it? I've watched it over a 6 month period and it's definitely thinning on both sides, more so on the right. Feel like being bald would affect my confidence and ability to pull attractive woman.

Definitely does look like it's thinning, but overall it's not that bad. Hard to know for sure without older photos for comparison.

Oh, it will. It will.

Basically, since it's in the early stages you have a choice to make.

1.) You can go to your doctor and get a prescription for finasteride (Propecia) and Minoxidil (Rogaine)

The Pros: This combo is almost certain to stop your hair loss

The Cons: The side effects of finasteride are too much for many to deal with and they hit many like a truck. You also must do them indefinitely

2.) Hang on a few years for the emerging technology and save your money. Maybe use minoxidil to keep thickening what you have.

The Pros: The science, especially regarding Tsuji, is extremely solid and already being put into motion to be available sometime around 2020. It's not like snake-oil of old, a fix is functionally possible in the near future. You will also not have to deal with finasteride side effects.

The Cons: Won't stop your hairloss in the meantime, there is always a chance these companies technologies will arrive a bit late, you'll likely have to take a vacation to Japan.

Either way, you're taking a gamble. I sadly had to stop doing finasteride because of side effects so I'm currently going with method 2.

I can't really tell if you're thinning from those pictures.

Also want to mention that many people don't get finasteride sides. Only take it if you're sure you have male pattern baldness though

If you are indeed losing ground, don't withhold treatment for the hope of future treatments. None of that sh*t is a guarantee.

Did the finasteride side effects go away when you stopped taking it? That's my biggest fear with starting finasteride. I know it's almost for sure to work but that risk.. How's rogaine? Will I shed at first of I use it? I've never really experienced shedding, but I do notice there becoming less hair in the corners and the line is brig pushed back every time I get a haircut

agreed, i wouldn't say thats thinning at all unless i was explicitly told so I guess I have to take your word for it, the vast majority of people show scalp with hair that short especially people of African descent. I am not saying you are in the clear but you should take adequate steps to find a competent doctor that can diagnose it for you or any other potential conditions.

The first thing you need to do is just chill. Your hair looks great you are basically a norwood 1, you have plenty of time to do something about it even if you are suffering slowly.

I appreciate the reply sir. I know it's hard to tell, but I wouldn't be posting on this fourm if it wasn't a reality. I am in the early stages for sure though and yes my hair looks good. I just fear t will keep progressing to the point where my hairline is completely screwed.
I'm going to see a derm in the next month or so.

From all my research, it seems like the finasteride/MIN combo is fail proof but the side effects you could get from finasteride seem way to scary. Is min effective by itself? Could it maintain my hairline until better treatments are an option?

Some people have good success with just minoxidil...you never know, you might be one of them.

I've had no sides from finasteride so far except watery semen

How long have you been on it? The sexual side effects seem harsh. Did you notice any others? Like brain fog or grogginess? I've read a bit about that and that's another turn off because my career requires high amounts of creativity in focus. Basically finasteride seems like my worst enemy, but so is thinning hair

Your fine I see pretty much zero hair loss there. Be gone from here and stop worrying about a pretend problem. When you really have male pattern baldness you wont be unsure of it you will look in the mirror and know instantly its happening. If it happens someday just take action right away. Ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

I can appreciate your hair thinning problem from both side. You can try minoxidil medicine to get rid of hair thinning issue. It is a very efficacious.
