Okay, I have been on GliSODin since Tuesday the 13th and I have to say that it has done some things. One for my hair.............questionable of course, way to early to tell, but if I do notice anything quick it would probably be a drop in shedding. But anyways, I do have peridontal disease( gum recession) and since I have been on the GliSODin, I have noticed no more bleeding of the gums during brushing. I even brushed hard on purpose and ...........still no bleeding. :) And my gums feel like they are becoming healthy again.

Also, my allergies.............I haven't been sneezing and the whites of my eyes have gotten whiter.......no more pink look.

My joint areas of my hip and knees don't have as much stiffness or pain in them. I did some squats at the gym today and my joints felt much better.

I feel overall pretty good.......better sense of well being!! More energy......feel like I did when I was 21.

I got my GliSODin from http://www.vitacost.com and I got the NSI brand. It is pretty cheap and high quality. Supposed to be a very good brand. just make sure the brand you get doesn't contain DiCalcium Phosphate since it actually inhibits the SOD that is in the GliSODin supplement. I take a full 1 gram a day........2 tabs in morning(500 mgs.) and 2 tabs at night before bed(500 mgs.) This is very interesting stuff. I love it and I have not been on it very long. I will keep on it.

Also, I was out in the sun yesterday for 2 hrs and didn't even burn. Usual only 1 hr. is all it takes to burn me a little. Those sun rays these days are much more intense than what they used to be.

Ya know the funny thing is, is that when I started to lose my hair (male pattern baldness), I developed peridontal disease and the joints in my knees and hips started getting stiff. Yeah, everything pretty much happened at the same time. Weird..................makes ya think everything is kinda linked.
Actually, its more like the tendons in my hips and knees that are giving me trouble...................not really "in" the joint. Could be tendonitis perhaps..........don't know.
Well just wanted to let ya know how GliSODin is and maybe some of you might consider giving it a whirl. GliSODin is being sold by many companies and I got brand NSI. I think it is one of the best. I'll let ya all know more good stuff later on. Keep ya updated. :)

I've noticed some of those things you mentioned..especially with the eyes- eyesight just seems clearer as well. Never paid much attention to the sunburn thing until that study came out..and yes, I can tell the difference.

My last order was from BAC: http://www.easycart.net/BeyondACenturyI ... dants.html (scroll down) $41.50 for 50 grams.

Hey thats a good deal. Are you sure that it is pure? Is it Glisodin only, or does it have other additives? Another question. Would Elsom sell me an Sod formula that is encased by liposome? I have read that topical SOD can only be absorbed through liposomes.

Maltodextrin as an excipient..as the label link above shows. BAC is supposed to be a good company.

Elsom will nanosome SOD for you. You'd have to email them to see how much it'd be. There are other liposomal SOD products out there but I'm not crazy about some of the other ingredients: http://www.ultrasun.ch/produkte/e_aftersun.htm (it's on ebay as well)

http://www.sosresults.com/files/sos08.html Don't know what the other ingreds are in that one..have emailed them.

There are some SOD containing shampoos as well.

I don't know if this is the complete list...but it beats Googl'n: http://www.plthomas.com/PLTBrands/gliso ... 20page.htm

Okay I might try BAC next time I order. Sounds pretty damn reasonable. Cheaper than vitacost. :)

Does Folligen contain SODs?

(forgive my newbie-like stupidity)
No. Folligen, Tricomin, and also American Crew's copper peptide products, do not contain SOD's, but they are supposed to be SOD's "mimics". Basically they are supposed to do the same thing as an SOD or behave like one. Notice I said "supposed to". Many people like the copper peptide products like Folligen and so forth........................just makes one wonder if an SOD "mimic" can work fairly well.....................what about an "actual" SOD product. Might work much better. :)

Got a response from the SOS ppl:

Thank you for your interest in the SOSâ„¢ products. Following is a list of ingredients and their properties as well as some information about SOS.08 Nourishing Moisturizerâ„¢.

SOS.08 NOURISHING MOISTURIZERâ„¢ INGREDIENT LIST

Aloe, Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, Marine Lipoic Antioxidant Complexâ„¢, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Tocopheryl Acetate, SOD Liposomes, Phospholipids, Allantoin, Beta Glucan, Panthenol, Kola and Green Tea Extracts in a moisturizing lotion complex.

FEATURE BENEFITS OF KEY INGREDIENTS

ALOE VERA

• The gel is a complex substance, comprised of many bioactive ingredients. These include polysaccharides, enzymes, amino acids, natural mild antibiotics, salicylic acid, and other compounds.

• It has powerful soothing, healing, and anti-inflammatory properties and is an effective moisturizer.

• In order for Aloe Vera to have its maximum benefit in a skin care product, it is vital that it is formulated in optimal concentrations.

GLYCOLIC ACID

• Is characterized by a small molecule that penetrates deeper to lower cellular levels, and stimulates cellular activity (lower epidermal level regenerative process).

• Combining glycolic and lactic acids in one formulation produces a synergistic effect that yields more effective results than use of either alone, because the lower cellular layers are deeply stimulated, while the upper layers are deeply hydrated.

• Contains a powerful complex of antioxidants (derived from vitamins and botanical extracts).

MAGNESIUM ASCORBYL PHOSPHATE (VITAMIN C) COMPLEX

• A powerful antioxidant, it is important for collagen formation and increased elasticity; inhibiting hyper-pigmentation, diminishing skin discoloration and increasing luminosity.

• In order for Vitamin C to work properly it must both penetrate the cell and coat the outside of the cell wall in order to prevent cell degradation, which occurs at both levels

• The Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate complex is the only form of Vitamin C that actually does both simultaneously.

• A very specific, highly potent and absorbable form of Vitamin C, 10% Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, is absorbed by the skin very quickly and remains in the skin for about 48 hours.

• According to the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (MAP) is percutaneously (deeply) absorbed, and stays in the skin’s cellular layers for up to 48 hours if formulated in a proper delivery system. This sustained continuous-action complex bathes the exterior wall and interior of the cell with active Vitamin C.

• These qualities have made Vitamin C an integral part of many high potency anti-aging products.

• The Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate complex is the first Vitamin C product that both penetrates the cell wall and stays resident on the exterior of the wall for maximum antioxidant benefits, while remaining stable and providing a sustained action over 48 hours.

• Most Vitamin C products, when applied topically remain on the surface of the skin with little to no penetration.

• Now, with Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate and the advanced delivery systems of the SOS™, the Vitamin C penetrates the skin to the maximum and optimal depth.

• Vitamin C is a building block for collagen synthesis. Collagen formation is stimulated by accelerated cellular replenishment and Vitamin C is vital for proper collagen synthesis.

• Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate is rarely used in products, especially in high concentrations, because it costs more than 100 times what L-Ascorbic acid (the commonly used form) does.

LACTIC ACID

• Has a large molecule that is very moisturizing and works on the top layer of skin to encourage lipid production.

• Has better water intake and retention properties than glycerin. Studies have indicated that it has the ability to increase the water holding capacity of the corneum layer and that the pliability of the corneum layer is closely related to its absorption – the greater the amount of absorbed lactic acid the more pliable the corneum layer.

• It has been proven that the continuous use of formulations containing lactic acid in concentrations of 5% – 12% provides an improvement in wrinkling and skin texture.

MARINE LIPOIC ANTIOXIDANT COMPLEXâ„¢

· Is a very comprehensive source of lipids, omega fatty acids, amino acids and multi-chain peptides.

· It is both lipid and water soluble, and can thus rapidly penetrate all portions of the cell. This action greatly enhances cellular energy and protects Vitamins C and E at the cellular level.

· Combines alpha lipoic acid with a potent and complex array of North Pacific marine plasma and phyto-chemicals.

· Alpha lipoic acid is a powerful therapeutic agent in the treatment of aging skin

· Alpha Lipoic Complex is one of the most potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory deep acting skin nutritive complexes.

TOCOPHEROL ACETATE (VITAMIN E)

• Is generally considered to be the most important oil soluble antioxidant and free radical scavenger and plays a vital role in slowing the skin’s aging process.

• Although generally extremely unstable, when vitamin E is presented in the form of tocopherol acetate, it becomes water dispersible and very soluble.

• Is non-comedogenic.

SUPER OXIDE DISMUTASE

• SOD is one of the most potent antioxidants and is also one of the most powerful sources of phospholipids.

• Simultaneous replenishment of skin lipids is maintained with time released SOD liposomes and phospholipids.

• SOD is one of the body’s first lines of defense, and helps fight against environmental and other toxic factors that can severely damage the skin.

PHOSPHOLIPIDS

• Their inherent compatibility with skin lipids allows them to be used topically as a moisturizer/emollient.

• Natural phospholipids are a primary agent in the manufacture of liposomes.

ALLANTOIN

• Its excellent healing and soothing properties make it an effective anti-irritant aid in the healing of dry and damaged skin by stimulating new tissue growth.

• Is derived from comfrey roots.

BETA GLUCAN

• Beta Glucan is derived from the walls of organically grown yeast cells and the extracts of very specific, medicinal mushrooms.

• A very comprehensive source of amino acids and multi-chain peptides.

• Produces positive results to sun damaged, wrinkled skin.

• Activates skin’s natural immune system.

• Helps skin to regain its elastic firmness and smooth texture.

• Accelerates the healing process (irritations, wounds).

• Is a very powerful antioxidant & anti-inflammatory agent.

PANTHENOL (PROVITAMIN B5)

• Acts as a penetrating moisturizer to stimulate cellular proliferation and aid in tissue repair.

• Is converted into Pantothenic Acid (vitamin B) when it penetrates the skin.

• It is very effective in assisting in the keratinization of the skin and protecting it against sun damage.

• Its humectant properties allow it to aid in moisturizing and adding suppleness to the skin.

GREEN TEA EXTRACTS

• Contain polyphenols which possess potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

KOLA EXTRACT

• Has powerful stimulating, astringent and healing properties.

• Acts as an anti-inflammatory and anti-irritant.

DIRECTIONS

Massage on face and neck every morning or as prescribed by your Certified SOSâ„¢ Skin Correction Specialist.

TIPS & TECHNIQUES

• When you initially start using SOS.08 Nourishing Moisturizer™ it may tingle, indicating it is working.

• It is designed to accelerate micro exfoliation which will smooth and even out skin texture, improving pores, lines and wrinkles. SOS.03 Refreshing Toner™ & SOS.04 Soothing Toner™ are designed to remove this micro exfoliation.

• Does not slow down the exfoliation process, allowing acceleration of cellular turn over.

• Increases skin elasticity and thickness (as skin ages it gets thinner).

• Does not compromise the lipid barrier.

• SOS.08 Nourishing Moisturizer™, an environmental protector, contains Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, which absorbs radiation and is an antioxidant.

• Brings your skin to the proper state of equilibrium.

• For optimal effectiveness, use in conjunction with SOS.09 Repairing Moisturizer™.

• Penetrates to the optimal levels of the skin for maximum effectiveness.

• Contains AHA’s which allow exfoliation but do not strip the skin’s lipid barrier.

• Does not contain oil, alcohol, artificial fragrance, or color

• Enables products following to work at their maximum potency.

• Using products from another line will reduce the products efficacy.

• SOS™ succeeds with all skin types, including sensitive, telangiectasia and rosacea.

• For optimal effectiveness, use SOS.08 Nourishing Moisturizer™ every morning and SOS.09 Repairing Moisturizer™ every night.

• The system works effectively to condition the skin for pre- and post-cosmetic surgery, laser resurfacing, microdermabrasion or skin peels.

• Packaged in tubes for maximum protection from contamination and to add to its longevity.

Just a heads up....ImmortalHair over at Regrowth had just purchased GliSODin at Vitacost..and as he pointed out it's cheaper than at BAC. Now I'm going to assume that they've changed their prices because I know I did the math right earlier :!: And nobody else jumped in to correct me so....

Also..I had asked SOS about the stability of SOD in their product..and got this response: "One of the issues that faces the cosmetic industry is stability and it is an issue that we are very aware of. All of the ingredients in all of the SOS formulations are stable for a minimum of 3 years. As well, all of the ingredients in the formulations are encased in much more advanced delivery systems than just liposomes alone, in order to target the deeper layers of the skin and remain in these layers for extended periods of time for optimal results."

I might very well look into this product. Do you think that this might be better than what Elsom has to offer? Do you know if Elsoms topicals are stable?

If it's true what SOS is saying...theirs will remain stable much longer. Elsom's is supposed to be 3 months I think. Dr. Yechiel isn't too thrilled about using SOD- won't make a "batch" of anything containing it to sell. Someone else would have to order a batch or get it via the Formulator.

Another company that makes liposomal SOD- Brookosome SOD(they don't make a finished product to sell to the general public) says
Please be advised that our standard Shelf life for our Brookosome products is one year from the date of manufacture(located on the CofA) in an unopened contained. Once opened the material should be tested to confirm in spec

One year max...unless other things in a final product can prolong it's "life". I may use the SOS product myself..although I'm looking into some other ones I'll post about next...will be a copy/paste from another forum. Maybe rotating the SOS or one of the below with something from Elsom(or where/whatever) that contains SOD mimetics would be the best bet.

It talks about a derivative..but anyway..I thought this was interesting: "approximately 100-fold slower than the superoxide dismutases (SOD), a family of enzymes responsible for endogenous dismutation of superoxide. This rate constant is within the range of values reported for several manganese-containing SOD mimetic compounds"
I wonder if there's any info out there on things such as Tricomin, spin traps, etc- comparing the "speed" to SOD.

Fullerenes are..."more effective carriers than lipsomes and nanosomes and up to 10 million times smaller, these carbon spheres have also proven efficient at wound healing." http://www.sircuitskin.com/ingredients

See also: http://www.csixty.com/antioxidant.html

The thing that's kept me from using products containing them is this: http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=dn4825 I've been meaning to write the companies that produce and use them to get their responses to this. Maybe it doesn't even apply to what they're doing with them. Maybe the fullerenes were taking toxic substances with them in the case of the fish.

Some products that use them..many contain ingreds discussed in these forums:
http://manstouch.com/skinbody/pc0109.html

Distilled Water, Witch Hazel, D-Boldine, L-Castor Oil Methyl Glycol, Cassia Betaglycan, Whey Protein, Silicone, Resveratrol (Wine), Polydatin (Wine), L-Ascaridole, L-Superoxide Dismutase, D-Alpha Tocopherol, Green Tea Extract, Grape Seed Extract, Xanthan Gum, Fullerenes, Amino-Guanidine, D-Beta Glucosamine, D20 (Heavy Water), Sandal-Wood, Spin Trap, Grapefruit.

SOD..Spin Trap...

"SIRCUIT formulations NEVER contain preservatives, fillers, artificial colors, artificial fragrances, and of course, everything we do is cruelty free."
