Hey all,
Just checking in about this. I keep reading all this literature about the positive effects of a glass of wine per day for your overall health. I know heavy drinking can cause more hair loss, but what about the before mentioned regiment of 1 glass per day for good health? I would hate to think there is actually a conflict between what is healthy for your body and what is healthy for your hair. Thanks for the input gents.

ps, that new anti aging pill they are working on is a red wine extract...

Where did you read that heavy drinking causes hair loss?

It could probably be good for your health, but any effect on the hair should be minimum, either good or bad

Alcohol has no influence on m.p.b.

I have read a bit (from this forum as well) that has basically stated that alcohol especially the day after can cause breakage and hormone levels to change. I thought this was common knowledge at this point. I would like to be wrong however.

i think wine contains histamines, which can be bad for some people as it may cause inflammation.

i avoid alcohol, as even a small amount makes me feel strange.

Also, starring at the sun for prolonged periods of time has been known to help regrow hair.

OP, when starting posts like this, get ready to cop it from the veteran posters.
They can't help themselves.

I hear that if you pour a little minoxidil in a glass it can regrow your hair (and improve the flavour)

The compound you're looking for is resveratrol, if you're worried about the alcohol in the wine (which works wonders to your health in small amounts for it's vasodilation effect) then just drink red grape juice. It is a potent polyphenol with anti-inflammatory effects and does a good job at quenching reactive oxygen species. It's good but not really an essential nutrient. Just make sure you're getting a good amount of antioxidants in your diet. A good way to just this is to just go by your skin tone, people with good antioxidant intake have a subtle orange glow to their skin (at least in caucasians).
