Ghostbond: How Long Do You Personally Wait For It to Cure?

The company itself suggests not showering, sweating, getting hot, etc. for 48 hrs.

That's quite extreme IMO.

How long do you guys wait w/ Ghostbond, or any other white glue products?

I don't have a system yet. Only here to gain knowledge. But my personal plan based on everything I've ever read is to simply just not get my hair system wet in the shower at all most days. Right now I only shampoo my hair twice a week and that has been fine for me and I don't think that's too unusual anyway. I will do the same with the system (twice a week) but obviously will choose to do so at least 2 days after the bond was first applied. I will use a leave in conditioner every day to help the health of the system.

In practice I put the piece on before work, and I am not showering or working out during the working day, so probably about 12 or 13 hours. But actually I think curing only takes about 4 or 5 hours in my case. 48 hours is ridiculous. You would be planning your life around you hairpiece adhesive.

I think I quite agree with the 4h. There have been occasions where I've had to go to a quite intense party where's lot of dancing on the same evening. Nothing happened. With regular Ghostbond it went white I think and with XL maybe too, but Platinum seems to be quicker.

While we're on the topic of timing with Ghost Bond just curious how many coats do you guys usually do and how long do you let it sit until placing the unit on?

I don't use Ghostbond (Davlyn for me), but I use 2 coats. I am not convinced more than 2 has any effect.

I feel like more than 2 layers is wasteful. You typically layer to cover up something such as painting a house or a car. I feel like with adhesive you aren’t trying to cover up anything you are simply trying to coat it. I can understand a second layer to ensure you did not miss a spot with the first coat.

I can understand from a business perspective to suggest more than 2 coats because it most likely doesn’t hurt anything with additional coats, but it does however increase the amount of
frequency you have to buy their product.

Layering also makes it a lot more complicated to use.

I've noticed the more layers the better the bond.

One layer for me, maybe 2 sometimes just to make sure I haven't missed a spot. I only aim for a 7 to 10 day hold so I find this works fine for me.

Salons often aim for 4 layers because they assume you're going to be in a hair-pulling wrestling fight, or you won't want to remove the system for 7 weeks. Neither of those appeal to me.
