once your hairline has receded, it's not coming back- ever. Minoxodil isn't gonna do a thing, it might grow you some peach fuzz but it's over. i have the same thing- i had a box hairline up until 26 until it started going back and i had a slight point in the centre of my forehead. now my temples are wide open - not in the danger zone yet but i'm watching!!!!!

If there wasn't hair there to begin with, you probably won't grow any hair with the minoxidil. Contrary to what our friend bob butthead said, you CAN regrow your hairline... I've done this once already...twice actually after a shed. It's difficult though.

Dude i'm in the same position and up until now i could just flick the sides across, cover it up and spike the hair to a cool style. But in the last 4 months it has got worse and worse, and aint much i can really do.

I have stayed away from minoxidil for fear of shedding and growing peach fuzz, but I have been seriously considering it lately as my hairline gets worse..I am 23 an lately been wearing a hat a lot, although I wore a hat all the time for years...

So whats the results you've had with minoxidil any luck, and stingray how long did it take to regrow???? Is it worth the trouble??

P.S I stuffed my hairline as a kid waxing it, coz I didnt want all those little hairs, how stupid I was, but it was always concealable now I am in trouble!!

23 year old grandpa is not far!

I traditionally had long hair since I was a kid, but always noticed that my front hairline was weird. I always looked good when my hairline was covered with a fringe, but terrible otherwise, because the hairline has given my a high forehead at the sides.

Rather than being flat across my head, it's ok in the middle 1-2 inches, but far back at either side of the centre. This means that the front of my hair looks like a mohawk, with skin on either side.

I thought I'd shave all my hair off before treating it, so I could see more clearly what the results were, and be able to apply treatments more easily. This new haircut looks terrible, but adding some colour to make an artificial straight harline makes it look good. Girls have said that I look hot in a hat, but terrible once it comes off (I appreciate their honesty on the subject!!)

I decided that it would become my goal to make a proper hairline for myself, and started pumping the area with Minoxidil. I notice that the sides of the hairline that I do have are much thinner than the bit in the very centre.

What else can I do? I can't afford surgery, and I'm too young to see if my hair situation is at it's 'worst point' anyway. Can treatments give you a better hairline when you never had one in the first place? Or do treatments only treat areas that used to have hair.

Thanks a lot.

Si,
Treatments only treat where hair is or used to be. That's like trying to grow grass on land that has no grass seeds or grass roots in it. I think you're only option would be surgery or some other form of cosmetic. Maybe you should post some pics. It may not be as bad as you think. :( :( :( :( :(

I too have had some good hairline regrowth with minoxidil. There's a study on minoxidil use for frontal loss that found 1/3 of men can have moderate to greatly improved frontal coverage after just 16 weeks minoxidil use. I'm at ten months on minoxidil now, and was seeing results just 2 months in.

I'd rate my regrowth (in previously bare areas) a 1 on a scale of 1-3, but it has a major cosmetic improvement. Hairline has come down noticeably and thickened up quite well.

A product like dermmatch could also help you improve the hairline (dermmatch.com) but minoxidil cannot absorb thru it, so you have to wait for min to dry before applying dm, and must wash it off before nighttime minoxidil dose.

I am not sure if if i have had any regrowth of hair in the hairline but I have had signifigant thickening of hairs with minoxidil only. This thickening has helped me gain signifigant cosmetic improvement. If you still have vellous hairs on your hairline then you still have a possibility of turning them terminal again with minoxidil. This in itself is enough to make it look like u regrw your hairline.
Peace,
Desar
