My stylist said the other day that 'there's nothing better than the feeling of a new system'. I fully and wholeheartedly disagree. I can't take myself seriously for quite some time with a new system on. I know it's a 'bedding in' process, and I have to 'train' the hair to do what I want, but man, I really need a quick fix. Has anyone got any techniques. I look ridiculous!

I assume you are referring to the pouff! I am with you on this. You can help it along by soaking your hair - either in water or a weak solution of conditioner - combing the hair roughly into shape and then pulling a tight ballcap over it and wearing it around the house for a few hours. The liquid lubricates the knots slightly, and the cap pulls them into the alignment you want. Obviously this only works if your system is knotted and not injected.

Ya, it's certainly an issue. Syling products like gel work well. Conditioning the hair the standard shower+rinse way also works well.

Thanks guys! It's just so disconcerting!! I think with this one it's possibly a bit worse. I tend to destroy my systems fairly quickly - something that I have accepted as part and parcel of m lifestyle. I've got a feeling my stylist left a bit more density than usual just to give it some longevity.

The styling product I've just bought is really good - one of those wax product that comes as a stick that you apply directly to the hair. Really styles it nicely. I thought I had tamed it, but I woke up this morning at 3am and went to the bathroom only to be met with the sight of Edward Scissorhands cross with Elvis!

A new system should not look 'ridiculous' if it's the right density, style, colour and cut in, and especially if you bought an exact replica (or as close as is possible) of your previous system. A brand new system has a silicone coating at the factory, so you just need to wash it with shampoo (and condition it too if you want), then you should be good to go. They do take a bit of time to settle in, but a new system should look good!
