I have been practicing DIY dying lately (DIYing? lol).

The issue I have run into is trying to protect the lace base with some kind of layer before the dying. I've been using got2Bglued but find I cannot keep it from seeping through the base and into the first 1 cm of the hair or so. This is annoying because the got2b keeps that part of the hair from dying when I flip it over and apply the dye. Is vaseline better? Has anyone found a good way to prevent this seepage into the hair roots? Thanks.

I don't often do dyeing, but I have been told that Vaseline works well. On the few occasions I have done dyeing, I pin my unit to a polystyrene wighead, then suspend the head upside-down over the bath. That way, any excess dye runs down the hair shafts into the bath, and not onto the base. So that is another idea you could consider.

Thanks Noah. How do you go about "suspending" the head upside down? Do you just hold it between your legs or something or what?

My bath has a retractable washing line above it. I hung it from that.
