The liquid takes hours to dry. In the meantime the hair will look wet, and therefore seem thinner. Personally I felt compelled to buzz it off while I used the liquid. I'm now on the foam and much more satisfied.

I use both, foam on the hairline, liquid on the rest of my head.

In my experience the foam is more effective than the liquid, but it's at least just as good. There is only one brand, Rogaine Foam, and I always purchase from Ebay.

Great, and its safe to assume that 1 foam bottle lasts a month even if I wanna put on top not just on crown/temples?

Thanks again,

I put it all over my head including temples and hairline and a can lasts 3-4 weeks.

Maybe its because you started with liquid and than went to foam...hence you had loss?
Someone like me who will go directly to foam might have good results since I didnt do liquid before??????

I used liquid for 4 years before starting the foam and still had improved results. You'll find some who claim that the foam destroyed their hair. I think it can cause a really big shed in some people due to the increased absorption/effectiveness and folks get scared and quit/go back to liquid. Then they recover from their shed and think the liquid is better. I will say that if you have longer hair or your hair is somewhat thick, the foam may have a harder time getting to the scalp than the liquid, so you may want to consider a shorter hair cut if that's the case...or use the liquid.

Don't overuse it either. I've read of posters going through a can a week and then are shocked when they shed like dogs. A half a capful is plenty for the whole head.

Yes, I just squirt it into the cap. It does take practice to get the correct amount as it does seem to come out pretty fast. You may find yourself with more than you need at first....

Beaner, would you say I can have an improvement even though I am not on finasteride?
I'm using spironolactone+nizoral on my head right now..oh by the way do you have irritation from foam?

Yes. I used the liquid version pretty much by itself for a couple years and saw improvements, although nothing as dramatic as I've seen over the last couple years with finasteride. I'll tell you one thing though, I started taking some supplements including saw palmetto and fish oils a few years back and I began noticing more new growth from the minoxidil, and my scalp/hair was less oily, so I think they may have helped somewhat. I've since dropped the saw palmetto but still take fish oil daily. I also currently use spironolactone and I believe it's also been quite helpful.

Maybe your big improvement came from foam??? I checked the FOAM survey and you said that it was better than the liquid..could the success also be attributed to foam ???????

I got saw palmetto and beta sitosterol that I am not using currently maybe I could do them, the only reason I dont want to be on finasteride is gyno....

hey man foam does seem to work fine. I didnt mind it at all, the smell just didnt agree with me, i couldnt see myself using it for years. I went with Dr. Lees standard 5% minoxidil. Same thing as rogaine liquid but dries in less than 1 min, reason being he buts less ppg in there. Good stuff and a lot of people here use it including Cassin. Foam should be good, but if you don't like it for some reason and dont want to use rogaine brand minoxidil check out http://www.minoxidil.com and try it. Been using it for 2 weeks, easy stuff to apply. Good luck though.

The biggest contributing factor to my current success is finasteride without a doubt. It's allowing the minoxidil to work better. With that said, I do believe the foam is working better than the liquid....or at least faster. I was still seeing regrowth prior to the foam with just the liquid, but it seems to be happening at a faster rate since the switch. It could just be my imagination and I may have seen the same results with continued use of the liquid, but the ease of application makes it a no brainer.
