The big problem with synthetic hair is that you can't bleach the knots (the other side of the fact that it doesn't get sun-bleached). Therefore I don't think it would work unless (1) you have light blond or white hair, or (2) you somehow make sure your hairline is never exposed to view (e.g. you have a camouflage strip of natural or transplanted hair), or (3) you get the piece made with a band of human hair along the hairline and use synthetic hair behind it. I understand that is the technique used by Edward Katz, who makes the hairpieces worn by William Shatner, Burt Reynolds and other such Hollywood luminaries.
