Hi, I apologise if this is not the correct procedure for getting hair loss advice.

I was wondering if you guys could give me some honest opinions?

I'm 34, I'm not sure whether or not I'm overreacting, lately I've noticed that I can see through my hair more under certain lights! I normally notice 5-10 hairs maybe in the shower but never any on the pillow.

One of these pictures is under a side lamp and the other is without the lamp on. Would you say my hair is thinning or just fine hair? My cousin who is a hairdresser assures me it's not going yet but I'm not sure if she's just being kind?

Natural thin hair.
You have bald people in your family?
But in my opinion you doesn't have male pattern baldness.

Thanks. All my life it's always been this annoying fine mop!

My dads side were bald but my mum's side, all the men had hair the exact same as mine

It kinda looks like my diffuse thinning, mine is more advanced. Hard to tell though..

I'd never heard of diffuse thinning!

My dad, uncle and their dad were all bald by their late 20s early 30s so I've lasted past them at least

I have fine hair as well, I'm 39 and still have mine. Never looks good spiked up or long, looks bad wet as well. I find if I keep short it looks fuller. Just got to keep an eye on it, any diffuse thinning and it will look worse.

I have got product in it in those photos too, I often think that's too heavy for it? Would I notice more shedding if it was diffuse thinning?

I push my hair down on top and spike the front. I use crew fiber if I want dry messy look or grooming cream if I want some shine.

If you were shedding you would see hairs. I shed most if mine while styling, never see any on pillow and maybe 1 or 2 in shower.

Yeah I notice most hairs come out when putting Matt paste in it.
That's it freshly washed

yeah hard to tell. My brother in law has thin hair and from certain angles it looks more than thin than yours and I know for sure he isn't balding. Just keep an eye on it. Amazing hair for your age.

Yeah, you definitely have crown balding, it's very visible to me at least, maybe not the average person.

If it was a hair texture problem the thinness would be evenly distributed throughout your head.

Thank you, yeah I figured that, although there was a light shining right above my head.

I've never thought of medication for hair loss, mainly as I've been put off by the side effects

Honestly man, it looks like you have diffuse thinning, at least in the crown area. Good news is that meds work really well for your type/area of thinning. If you get on them ASAP you'll likely be right as rain for a looooong time.

I'm put off by the idea of meds due to the sides. How long do you think until I should consider shaving?

I have my Fathers side hair type thickness density texture etc but my Mother side DHT sensitivity so be careful of assuming hair type is equal to hair loss genes.

Shaving? You are no where close to that yet. Honestly I cannot say for sure how much crown loss you have. Your hair is fine and lighter color and the lightning can make it look worse.

I agree with above no need to shave just get a biopsy if not sure and if you are sure then just start meds.
